Portugal: Winter tyres?
Hi. Next spring we will be spending time in our motorhome in the French and Spanish Pyrenees (with winter/M&S tyres)and will be continuing on into Portugal as part of the same trip. I have read somewhere on the internet that winter tyres are illegal in Portugal.
Other sources say only that they are simply not legally required, others only that studded tyres are illegal. I contacted the tyre manufacturer Continental and they concurred that advice is contradictory but couldn't even themselves say which is correct. On
Continentals suggestion I sought advice from the Tourist Office at the Portuguese Embassy, they didn't know the answer either and referred me to their relevant government department, who after a long silence still haven't replied.
Before I attempt to persue this further with official sources can I ask if any CC member or indeed the Club has already found a definative answer, and where from?
