Overnight parking Portsmouth ferry

hello,

i have read somewhere sometime that if you are on a morning ferry from Portsmouth, you can park overnight in check in area once the last ferry has sailed. Is this true or still the case ? If not, anyone know where I can park near the ferry overnight ? It's
our first time taking the m/home on the ferry.
