Dorema Mistral Ripstop Rusty Poles

I purchased a Dorema mistral ripstop awning just for overnight and weekend use http://www.dorema.co.uk/de/lightweight_awnings/mistral_ripstop.htm . Used it one night and the inside of the poles are rusty. Dorema has said that the only way it colud have happened is that the poles were stored away wet. I dont think it was, but never the less i would like to remove the rust from the inside of the poles and stop it reforming. Any ideas please?

Otherwise it is a great awning, can put it up in 10 mins and it comes down in less, just a shame Dorema only do the poles in steel.
