Standard of servicing

I have recently returned from a stay at Woodhill Park in Norfolk. While there I witness something that should be a caution to all caravanner's. While sitting reading in the front of my caravan
I heard a loud bang followed by a scraping noise. On looking up I could see that a car pulling a caravan had entered the gateway to the site, but had ground to a halt just though the gate. At first I thought the driver had caught the gate post, but on looking
closer it was evident he was well clear of the posts. But what was obvious was the fact the van laid over at an angle different to the car. Once outside the problem came only to apparent, one of the alloy wheels had fell off as the van entered the gateway.
It turned out the caravan had just come 130 miles from home and had just been serviced prior to this. I shudder to think what may have happened had this occurred on the way to site while travelling at speed. This brings into question the standard of some caravan
service agents. So I would recommend that even if your van has just been serviced that you check for yourself that the wheel nuts are torqued up correctly.

PS, the staff at Woodhill went above and beyond to help get the van back on its wheels again laying on the ground in the poring rain to get the wheel back on.
