We're on a CL with ponds, ducks and moorhens. This will be a challenge for the camera tonight. The camera is strapped to the trunk of a willow tree near the waters edge. I'll let you know in the morning if it catches anything........

I was listening to David Cobham talking about his Hen Harrier book, Bowland Beth. I was very sad to hear there are only six pairs left now. What a terrible loss. His story is remarkable but the demise of such a beautiful bird in the UK is dark and shameful.
The Astronomy Photos of the Year 2017 are impressive. I'm not too good at taking night time photos, just about manage the moon if it's bright. The photos are lovely but my favourite is the shooting star over Portland, in Dorset....oh, and the space station one too. See here on the BBC.
