Campervan only Insurance Quote
I have a small campervan (Hyundai I800) and it's my only vehicle. I am being quoted £900+ for insurance which maybe because it's my only vehicle. Can anyone suggest where I might get a more reasonable quote?

I exchanged my caravan tugger for a PVC last June and found the best quote that I wanted to accept from Caravan Guard. They were excellent when I needed some confirmation on a technical matter. I transferred the No Claims Discount from my car insurance without any bother. I suspect the fact you have only 1 vehicle may result in a higher annual mileage than someone with an extra car but there's no other reason I can think of as to why having 1 vehicle should prejudice you with an increase in premium.
Personally I found using comparison websites as mentioned above restrictive, and I do use them for our other car and house etc, and you are better off going to specialist insurers direct.

When you go on the comparison websites play around with the mileage. A lower figure is not always best. We have a VW UP in my wife's name with 4 drivers. For £5k miles the renewal premium was £230. We raised the mileage to £8k and now pay £168.

Motor insurance prices depend on the type and value of the vehicle, the place where you live, your accident record, the mileage you do, the amount of excess you are willing to risk, and probably your horoscope star sign too. All you can do is to put all that information into GoCompare, Compare the Market, etc etc and see what quotes you get. Have a good afternoon.
