We have no intention of visiting those sites as they are too expensive for us!

On the spur of the moment I considered Coniston, as it has a "Spring Offer" of 10% off. However, on reading the T&Cs, one has to book 21 days beforehand to get the discount. Not very conducive to spontaneous touring, is it? So, booked elsewhere.
I really think these offers would yield more income if one didn't have to book that far ahead.

No intention of visiting, compared to some other sites, way to expensive.

Personally I’d pay more not to have the supermarket, bowling alley etc.

There has never been any question that there are cheaper sites out there @DaveCyn and of course far more expensive sites too.
But it's not just about cost it's about location, quality, pitches...
Without you naming this site it's impossible for anyone make any sort of comparison on any of those? For example there's no point it being half the price of BK if it's nowhere near? A link or name would help others decide for themselves how it compares to other club sites in that area and perhaps if it's that good to use the site and save money?
Actually I've just looked as even if one wanted to stay at BK for a weekend it's impossible to get a full weekend for the next three weeks on a standard pitch and for the next six on a SP (which comes in at around £60 on some dates in April) so not too expensive for some? But even more useful to name that site you're staying on for others?

I am inclined to agree with CS in that if a site is supposedly half the price of a Club site how can anyone validate the quality of the cheaper site if it is not named? One could also argue that naming the site would be an advantage to other members who may be looking for a cheaper alternative? When such sites are named I will admit that I often take a peek at their website just in case I am missing something. I will admit that in the main we have stayed at Club sites but have also stayed at many commercial sites but they are very rarely cheaper than CMC sites and sometimes slightly more expensive. Don't be coy Dave, share the name☺️

clearly it depends on what you are looking at. We stayed at a small independent site last year, near Ledbury. I can’t remember its name. About 25 pitches. I think it cost us £25 a night with electricity, it might have been less. There were toilets and I think showers. I seem to remember the showers might have been a £1. We don’t use site showers or toilets. Very pleasant quiet site and certainly less than a club site.

Well that surely isn’t comparing like with like. To start with you’re on a rally which normally makes prices cheaper as they’re filling pitches at a quiet time to cover operating costs. The comparable site is clearly Hurn Lane and not Black Knowle.
Unity is a mad house in summer and in peak season you'd be paying just shy of £70 p/n for two people on a HS pitch similar to the ones on the much quieter Hurn Lane site.

DC have and Long Medow three quarters of a mile from Black Knowl, its a lovely site and can be roughly half the price of Black Knowl.

Dunno what happened to my post above, it should read have read something like
"DC have a look at Long Meadow ………"
The @ symbol is not working for me at the moment, no doubt something to do with the browser I am using!
Apologies for the errors.

@peedee I think part of the problem with the @ symbol is one has just to be slow and steady, waiting a second or two between each letter of the name after the symbol before the name of the person you want appears. Hope this solves your problem.
