@DavidKlyne good to hear that Margaret can get her operation done. Fingers crossed that it won't be too long before it happens.
Glad to read that you are feeling good enough to head outside to do some work in your garden, but please don't do too much, small steps to start with as directed by your family, @DEBSC
Super photos, @DSB pleased to see that you had a nice day out at Rievaulx, enjoy your mead.
Happy gardening to @Bakers2 , @milliehull , and @Takethedogalong
@richardandros hope your trip goes well, say Hi to Nicola from us please. How were the results of your xray, hopefully reassuring?

It started off this morning with a hazy sky but the sun did eventually break through. We had a pleasant walk on the shore at Hornsea before lunch then did a bit of shopping at Tesco before intending to go for a walk at The Mere but found that the gates were still closed. I explored more of the local lanes when we got back.

Lovely sunny day, woke up to -2C and afternoon temperature of +12C.
Washed caravan, so looking quite presentable again
Son broke his thumb playing indoor cricket on Sunday. Sad news that our foster grandson has been moved on after 3 years, the powers that be decided he should go into residential care.
The assessor is coming to inspect the van tomorrow, so fingers crossed.Hope all those with ailments get well soon

@DavidKlyne I'm very pleased that Margaret's tests were OK and I hope she will get a date for her hip operation ASAP after this delay.

@DavidKlyne , that’s very good news. Hopefully it won’t be much longer now 🤞
@nelliethehooker , that’s just what I needed to know from a seasoned traveller. Thanks 👍

Sunday was a nice sunny day here so I did more work on the caravan, and finally got the fridge working on gas, so that is a relief.
Had expected DD with that mattress she wants us to store for her, but as it was a sunny day she decided to do some gardening instead. They have decided to remove an unruly hedge, which is taking up too much space, make a plan for getting slabs laid to form a large sitting and eating area, and get quotes for the work, so she started removing some overgrown shrubs. While shredding the thinner branches, using our shredder, she managed to break it……sparks and smoke were observed…….so now she needs to buy a better one of her own. Ours was still under guarantee, so we can hopefully get it replaced, or get a refund.
Once they have all the landscaping done, they will put in a new, nicer, hedge, but meantime, as it will be pretty open to the street, with only a low fence, she plans to put up temporary privacy screening. Tonight she got in touch to say she had secured a load of fencing planks, free, so can I bring our big car down on Thursday or Friday and help her get it all home?
And could OH please contact our gardener to ask if he can come and take out the hedge and several tree stumps, so there will be no way back after that. OH has tried several times to persuade her just to put up a new fence inside the old one, but to no avail, she likes a hedge, just not the one that is there!
Sunday was not so sunny, but we went to see our son and family for lunch and chat. DIL had her Dad and her brother visit too, so plenty of chatting. Grandson was home from Uni, on study leave, so he joined in. He has his birthday soon, will be 19……time flies! They are looking to buy a small flat for him as renting is very expensive, so they will be viewing some this week.
Today has been sunny off and on. This morning I finished the work in our kitchen, and tidied away all my tools, so OH is now in the process of deciding what to put where, and muttering about the work surfaces there not being allowed to be “a dumping ground” from now on. It certainly does look a lot better now it is all neat and tidy. We have moved a few things around, put most appliances away in cupboards, so more clear work surfaces. Only the bread maker, the coffee machine, and the air fryer are now left out.
This afternoon I finished most of the things that needed to be done on the caravan and brought the carpets in to be shampooed…….first I need to repossess our shampooer from DD’s house. I wonder what else of ours she still has. 🤔

@DavidKlyne - David - great news about Margaret's op - let's hope she gets sorted soon. And @DEBSC - as I said to you earlier - just go with the flow and don't try to do too much too soon. Ros was extremely tired when the radiotherapy started but, eventually, just accepted it and took things steady. It didn't last long and she was soon back to her 'normal' self😉 She's not had any problems since and that must be over 20 years ago.
@nelliethehooker - thanks for asking - not quite as I expected - but I won't bore everyone on here with my ailments, I'll send you an email later - and - yes - we'll certainly pass on your regards to Nicola on Thursday. Looks like being another nice day - so van washing and loading up is on the cards for later. Have a good trip to Louth tomorrow.
