Membership Cards

It seems the club have started sending out membership cards again, although possibly only if you requested one last year. Last year our auto renew letter didn’t contain them and there was a paragraph telling you that you could request them if you wanted. This year it says they have pleasure in enclosing our new cards and there is no mention of the digital alternative.

Interesting post @SteveL. I do recall asking for the cards in the previous year (2023), as perhaps it was talked about on CT, but for this membership year (2024 when I renewed) I didn't do anything and they arrived. I assume the club 'remembered' that I had asked the previous year?

We requested, and received, physical cards last year. Have just had an email saying that our membership will renew in February and from 1st Feb I can request physical cards. So we will see wht happens.

We have received our membership card, as requested, at the same time as the latest magazine, but am still waiting for the Site Directory and map!😫

@nelliethehooker I think you need to ring someone as the site directories seem to have been sent out weeks ago? Sometimes our Club stuff is delivered to our next door neighbour who are also Club members and they seem to take their time to check their post!

@DavidKlyne I rang them up last week and they said that they would send another out, as you said we should have received ours by now, and it was suppose to arrive in 3-5 days but that time has passed so if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I will be back on the phone!!

I also requested a physical card last year - and this year, they arrived automatically without being requested again - so it does look as if the system is remembering previous requirements.

@DavidKlyne The site directory did not arrive today, so I phoned HO! It was a rather heated conversation with the young lady on the other end, who insisted that her manager had stated that no further SDs would be sent out until the end of the month! However she did eventually check my membership records and it would appear that a copy had been sent out a week ago and should be with me by the weekend. I live in hope!😄😄

Nellie, lets hope so. After all you are probably the one person in the Club who uses it the most😉

It has been 12 days since the club's membership department said it would take 3-5 days for the Site Directory to arrive after my phone call and them supposedly posting a copy to me. I phone up again today and after another heated discussion and their apology they are posting another out today which again should be here before the weekend. We shall see, not hopeful though.

Perhaps another reason they are sending out physical cards. Currently you can’t access your card in the App, which means there is no way to save it to Wallet on the phone. I did try logging out and in again and even turning the device off and emptying the cache, but nothing worked.

I get that message when I use the app but by continuing you can get to the card although I am not sure how I did it.

It must be a common problem as the warden at the last site allowed me in when I showed my driving licence.

Possibly by touching on the My Profile button, @Wildwood which brings it up within there, as long as you have a 4G or WiFi connection. The various problems there have been over electronic access was the main reason for requesting a physical card. I know I could take a screen shot of it in my profile, for offline use, but really the club needs to get the paperless version reliably sorted out on all platforms.

I too cannot access it the current one on the app to download to my wallet, but following the trouble I had with it not automatically updating in my profile last year I archived my 2023 issue in my wallet, and if the worst comes to the worst I will show the wardens that and they can then verify current membership.

When we arrived home from our trip on Sunday there were not just one but two copies of the new Site Directory and associated maps. All I have to do now is to to through our working copy annotating it and updating the changes that have occurred since it was submitted for printing. Only just started but have found than at I have to go back to the Maddie's August/September list of changes to bring it up to date, so a work in progress that will keep me occupied for a while!!

I do wonder why we need the card if we have booked in advance. They know who we are, so a driving licence would confirm this, although they also have the car and caravan details on the website and the computer will not allow someone else to use the membership when I am on a site. At the end of the day I am left wondering if the chance of someone booking in as me is worth the bother. Trying to beat the system seems to be so hard I find it difficult to see the problem.

If you do turn up without booking it might be needed, but otherwise I am not convinced.

The only time I did not have my card I was setting up alone and then the warden accpeted my driving licence.

With the digital cards on my phone and the card shown on the club's website I can't remeber the last time I actually showed my printed out card.

And slighly off topic I read the other week that driving licences will be avaiable digitally soon.
