is it just me?

Today I received my caravan insurance renewal advice from the club, seems pretty straight forward, no horrendous bill, however, a couple of months ago my credit card company decided to send me a new card with a different number on it, so I think, better change the details for the cmhc as we pay our membership and insurance on an annual rolling bill, shouldn't be hard !!!!! WRONG, having spent in excess of an hour going round and round the web site and continually being returned to the start, with no vision of actually getting to change my card details, I got to thinking " how do the elder members get on" well done "Caravan and Motorhome Club" I suspect that IF you could make this site any less user friendly you would try, In the meantime I will have to ring tomorrow and listen to the dreary music till someone decides to pick up the phone, So much for improvement, Anyone else struggle with this web site?

@SteveL we no longer have our membership on auto renew, but when we did, it was paid by credit card; one year we were in the same boat as the OP, but hadn't thought of updating the card details. We then received an email from CAMC informing us that payment couldn't be taken from the card on the system. From then on we cancelled the auto renew, it's just as easy to pay online when payment is due.

The "other club" only takes payment via annual DD from a bank account, no option to pay with credit card with them.

@SteveL it must have changed since we cancelled our auto renew then. It is probably about 7 or 8 years ago. But I still pay by credit card when I renew, and the price is the same. I think that it's only when you first join as a new member that you pay the £10 extra if you don't set up a DD. I certainly don't pay an extra £10 when I renew by credit card.

As it meant changing card details for 2 separate items with 2 departments, I’d not expect it to be simple online. Far better to pick up the phone or contact via Live Chat, I think. The phone is possibly more secure.

I don’t know about insurance but I thought auto renew membership was by annual direct debit from a bank account, therefore a change of credit card would make no difference to future payments.

@InaD I was just going on our experience and the the information on the joining page, which says the credit card option isn’t auto renew.

Possibly you could cancel auto renew and then reinstate the option with the new card number.

Getting back to the renewal advice. I'm guessing you have shopped around. Mine has just come in from Lifesure at £220 for £31.5k of new for old. etc. I tried the Clubs "Cover" and it is between £680 and £780.

I know we are all different, but that is significantly higher.

Thanks Colin, however the van is 2010 and again the quote is same as last year, so didn't bother ringing round, £210 seems reasonable, my original question was more the unuser friendly web site which took me round in circles even though the insurance renewal stated that it is a "simple" way of renewing!😉
