    But is the Club mainly for members staying on sites? What about the CL network they support - even though some will say not sufficiently, and I guess the same can be said the Centres and Divisions of the Club.

    The club s not just for people staying on sites but for anyone with a motorhome or caravan. There are members who do not use sites and others who do this only rarely. They join for the other services provided or for rallies so probably have no interest in this subject.

    I am not sure what the take up on C&CC sites is, but to me a six hour stay to be included is not workable, particularly when members have to be away by 12 noon.

    Indeed, @Wildwood , but I don’t hear those people who don’t stay on club sites asking CAMC to spend mega bucks to alter some other aspect of club provision to suit them personally so they can then avoid paying CAMC the full amount.

    CAMC must feel they’re in a lose/lose situation at times and, at the end of the day, it's members' money they spend on every alteration and facility whether it benefits everyone or, as in the case of this discussion, just a few.

    yes but alterations to club sites don’t benefit everyone. Removing sites with no facilities blocks, putting in lads of service pitches all benefit some but not all.

    @Hja but those are available to all members that stay on club sites if they wish which is what TDA was alluding to upthread as the club's core market. While adding or converting LNA areas to offer a splash and dash does not and adds possible costs and inconvenience for those that do use club sites for the few that do not use club sites at full price. I can't see it making more people want to actually stay on a club site? Additionally as been pointed out other providers do offer this service, whya club site?

    As to removing no facilities sites (a whole different thread here) to me that is a benefit to all members. One has to remember they removed or closed rather as they were not being used, I can't see the point of offering something that no one, or not enough members want, causing a drain on resources. Best to spend that money on things that club site users do want, like SP.

Also, everyone can take advantage of service pitches if they wish but a splash and dash facility is of no use to the members who use sites and certainly of no interest to caravanners or trailer tenters. There is a vast difference between adding facilities which are available to everyone and making special provision for the few members who thumb their noses at the club's biggest offering.

    That looks pretty close to me. I think the main point is probably that it is very near the entrance, not away in the middle of the site, as many are. We have stayed on the site in the past.

    Thank you Tammy for a calm assessment.

    The camping and Caravanning Club does indeed offer this facility at 49 of its sites. It doesn’t appear to have cost them millions - just a change of mindset. There are no reports of uproar from their members, nor turmoil on their sites. They accept members and non members alike for a stay of up to 3 hours - to empty waste and toilets, fill up with freshwater, and use their washrooms and showers. They charge £7.65 and only ask for a phone call to check availability.

    Anyone interested can Google Service Stopovers at that Club to see the 49 locations.

    @KjellNN If you mean the MSP being near to the LNA I suppose it's all relative, two large caravan and car outfits (and more) isn't that pretty close to me, but the main point here is that CY wishes to adapt the LNA area for splash and dash which I assume would mean digging up that area for the wider drain needed. Cost?

    Also there is one MSP for the whole site while it may be possible to use it without going through the site although from memory that could mean making a turn into oncoming traffic, it could mean that people paying full price staying on site might be inconvenienced waiting for their turn. I don't think that is fair. Also as already said the office might be closed, the LNA is used for overflow parking during the day and its intended purpose at night till the office opens in the morning. A lot of people possibly put out for a few, I just can't see that being fair?

    It would be interesting to know how well used the C&CC service is. Are there those on this forum arguing for similar using the C&CC offer? If they are how have they found it?

    I came across a Motorhomer using one at their site at Leek this year. I was having a chat to him as he was filling his tank with water. He said it was useful to him as he had a large Hymer M/H, over 7 metres and wanted sites that were accessible. Apparently he preferred using them when convenient and in the area. Didn't speak to any warden so don't know how often members use the facility.
