Your Profile and "About me"
Hardly anyone appears to be filling this in, At the very least it would be useful if members indicated what leisure vehicle they owned. As you can control what people see in your profile I see no reason to go totally private. What do you have to hide?

“What do you have to hide?”
That’s the whole point. We don’t all tell everything.🤫
Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place but I can’t see anything about your outfit, PD🤔.

I agree @peedee it would be nice to see more about everyone and love seeing everyone's outfits. Plus favourite campsites and CLs will be interesting as always good to have recommendations. We can definitely look at ways to encourage people to fill profiles in. 😀

I don't think it's anything to do with 'what do you have to hide' which might imply people do have anything, but really it's up to ones personal preference what one wants to share with people who in effect you don't know?

This is all I can see PD?

Thanks @Cornersteady, I have completed the "About me" and filled in when I joined the Club. There is obviously something amiss!

I have filled in type of outfit but have not filled in the bit where it says do you own a motor home or caravan or etc etc. Same issue here I have raised before. What is the definition of a motor home or a camper van. They lump campervans in with tent and trailer tent. As the owner of a PVC fully equipped with kitchen, toilet, shower, fixed beds I don’t equate to campervan in most peoples minds, nor Motorhome. Given the increasing prevalence of panel vans I think it should be a separate category.
I agree it would be good to see if people were caravaners or motorhomers. No idea what shows up against my profile on a post for others to see.1 -
My 'About me' details have moved across from the previous incarnation of CT, PD. Seems there’s nothing for you🤷🏻♂️

@Tinwheeler it is clearly not being made visible as it should be. Here is what my profile shows when I check it.
I take it that the lock symbol means it will not be displayed, odd that there is no lock symbol by the email address.
@Hja note you can write what you like regarding the type of leisure outfit you have.

Interesting. @peedee can you see mine? It’s only one line and visible to me.

There you go, PD - something to flag to @Rowena

😎I have filled in the About Me. But my profile is still private, so no idea if anyone can see it🤣

@Takethedogalong - When I click on your name it just states your details are private. You have to tick the box to allow it to be shown but I don't like the fact that whilst the email address is locked the actual names aren't and it doesn't state that any of your essential details, filled in before the "About me" details, will NOT be shown so am reluctant to tick the privacy box.
I think @Rowena should flag it to IT or maybe she can answer the query. What will be shown and why isn't the name locked?

@Wherenext just don't fill in the names and nothing will show. I chose to only display my first name. It is not working correctly right now so maybe best left until @Rowena advises it has been sorted.

If you want to know what shows in an un-private profile, open mine or PD's. It’s nothing that we don't want to share.

Here you go @Wherenext . See, nothing to be wary of😃

Hi all, Last name is private so this won't display so it would only be first name that would display if you filled in. It's entirely up to you if you want to fill it in and not a problem if you don't if you prefer not to. The same with any of the optional questions.
Looks like the profile not displaying is a bug that the team are working on to fix.

Thanks for that Peedee. I tried googling it before I asked and got some answers but none of them were anything to do with motorhomes, caravans or similar. I have a share in a narrowboat and I have to admit that I do find it rather annoying when people refer to it as a barge, so I suppose Hja has a point.

part of the issue is that if you say camper van then people often assume VW type van, frequently no wash room. On the other hand Motorhome brings up images of “white boxes”. We have been asked on booking campsites occasionally, Motorhome or camper van. No idea why, pitch prices were the same. Panel vans are very different because in essence they are just a van like a delivery van but kitted out with seats, kitchen washroom etc. I understand that there were more PVCs than motorhomes at the recent NEC show. What it comes down to is why the info is being collected. I thing there is very good reason for knowing whether people are towing their van or driving their van. I also think that is often useful knowledge when reading posts and especially reviews. Beyond that I guess the Club is trying to get a feel for its membership, in which case more categories would be useful. Currently it’s either Motorhome or campervan but the latter is bracketed with trailer tents and tents!

I filled my bio in yesterday, but it has now disappeared, guessing it’s the glitch. But my profile is private anyway.

I seem to recall that when I joined, the CC as it was then, the profile page asked who you toured with, what your hobbies were and a few other things, which I thought was just general info and I wasn't bothered who read it. I am not on any social media sites and anything that I would want to be private, I would not put online anyway.

I filled mine in on behalf of our dog🤣 Sniffer on tour. It was only a test.

@Hja I think it can vary quite a bit around terminology, and different people’s interpretation. A caravan is rather obvious, towed behind another vehicle. But we think of PVCs as converted Vans, varying in size. Campers tend to be things rather smaller, even dare I say “classics” like the lovely VW Campers you see, and other small van special editions (we started our touring life with a natty A60 Suntor Caravette). Our niece has a Citroen Berlingo Camper. We covet the Jeep Campers you can now get.
Motorhomes are larger, special habitation units mounted onto chassis of various marques, either retaining the front cab area, or in the case of A class models, everything including the front cab is a habitation modification. Then you get the slide outs. Coach sized Motorhomes.
There are hundreds of variations. Possibly all given the term “motor caravan’ by the DVLA. A lot of campsites use size as the basis of describing something, so 5 metres long would be a camper, 5 metres plus, a motorhome. And price accordingly. We sometimes get charged “camper” rates, as our 5.5m is small compared with most MH’s. Hard to pin down anything really. A trailer tent is a tent with a boxed wheel base, capable of being towed behind a vehicle, that folds out to have more tent like expansive living and sleeping areas🤣1
