Hope all goes well for your OH Ttda and you have him home soon for his recovery, there is still a lady in Hawes who does rope work mainly dog leads and a few other items she has her own website which of course I cannot remember what it is as I looked it up a couple of days ago just found it Askrigg Ropemakers hope this helps.

Eldest Son was flying back from Brazil overnight, the Sao Paulo flight got into Heathrow at 6.45am! He wanted a lift from MK Station which was a more reasonable 9.25am but still a bit early (for me) to be up and out. Suggested we might call into Waitrose for breakfast but I think he was too tired despite the luxury of Business Class and he had already eaten on the plane! Also he had told his neighbour, who had been looking after the cats whilst he was away, that he would feed them this morning. Couldn't risk angry cats!

Very pleased to read that your OH's operation went well, and fingers crossed that they will let him go home tomorrow, tda. It will be much better for him getting back in a car than on the train. All the best for his speedy recovery.
It had been another couple of dull and rather miserable days, although we did see a bit of blue sky yesterday, but only for a very short while. I managed to get the inside of the caravan cleaned this afternoon, so just the outside to do, once more, before we head off again.

Hope you have got OH back home ttda - and that he makes a speedy recovery.
Well here is my last re-sized photo seeing as it will be possible to simply 'drag and drop' them from Thursday (assuming the system we tested has been adopted). Meg was 11 on Friday - so she just had to have a birthday cake! Think she was a bit concerned about the candles, though!
Just about got the van ready for my long trip to Cumbria for its service. It goes in on Wednesday morning so I'll have a day of rest on Thursday and head back on Friday. Made sure I've got a load of books on my Kindle and don't intend doing very much other than reading
Should be quiet on the site I am staying on - since it closed last week! - but Pennine View Park has a special arrangement for customers of ALV which is most useful. Weather forecast looks good as well!

Excellent service you get from your dealer Richard. A good one is worth their weight in gold.
Conicidences - The ladies of the village W.I. hand knit poppies each year and we have an excellent scout group that help put them up on railings adjacent to the monument each November. I passed them last weekend on my way out of the village and looked at the clock/date as I'd forgotten the date. The time said 11.11. Very poignant.
Had a morning of firstly getting my hair cut by OH, glad she left some, then doing some packing ourselves of the van as we hope to get away for a short break early this week.
As I write the sun has broken through. I may try to find some daisies and daffodils to skip through

Just feeing a bit under the weather at the moment. Last weekend, my sore troat and cold was amongst the worst I can remember. For the first time ever I had to get someone else to do the announcements at a concert (I usually do all announcements myself). The cold seemed to get better as the week went on.
Our concert last night at Elford was good.... and everyone was so helpful in helping to carry equipment to and from the car. The thing which is unavoidable, is, when I get home, tbere's only really me to unload the car. Managed tio pull my back and in a fair bit of pain this morning.
Any other Sunday would have been less of a problem, but having to stand outside with the choir in readiness to sing the National Anthem was a bit more difficult than usual. At least I think I have managed to finally get the abbey choir to get the right words.... I think we've managed to put 'God save our gracious Quing' to bed!!

OH not home yet, I saw him yesterday, another day of hope’s raised, but they are very cautious. He did have a General Anaesthetic, and it wasn’t a short op by any means. Just done a zoom call, he’s prowling the outside now, getting some fresh air. No pain, no obvious symptoms of any problems. Like a ruddy caged lion, gonna be fun when the patient gets home😁

Just me and the hound, chillin’ nicely! He’s fine up in Leeds, I took in some of his favourite home done food yesterday, he’s got Wolf Hall + lots of other books and mags to read, and I have told him his favourite film is on ITV iplayer. Fingers crossed for tomorrow 🤞 Weekends are always slow in hospitals.

Thanks all for the welcome back comments, it's good to be home again despite leaving the sun behind.
Today being remembrance Sunday we were at our Grandsons school for the service and parade. As usual it was great to see all the pupils out on parade. The school band and dancers gave a good performance at morning music. I have to say though I did have a soft spot for the new senior drum major, our grandson. So proud of him he did very well. Next March the school band has been invited to Cape Town to their equivalent of the Edinburgh Tattoo. Lots of performances to look forward to, he is so excited to have been chosen to lead the band. After the parade we all went out for lunch to celebrate his sisters 18th birthday in a few days time, she is now at University in Leeds studying English.
WN, we were near Valencia before we headed to Portugal. The plan was to come back up the Costas on our return trip. Thankfully we avoided all that, what a terrible time they have been having. Barcelona and Girona suffered last week as well. Such unpredictable weather.

Sounds as if he is looking for an escape route

Hope OH gets home tomorrow, tda. Would you have to go and collect him or do the hospital supply transport for him to get home? Must be a frustrating time for you both.
Hope all goes well with the caravan service, Richard. Good customer relationship by the sound of it.
Hope you are getting over your cold David, and that your back feels less painful after a good night's rest.
Yet another drieich day, although the sky started to break up around 4:30 this afternoon and we now have a cloudless sky. It was clear enough to spot the Skylab, I think, passing from roughly West to East at 5:30 when I was out with Flyte after our evening meal.

Special woodturners day for me today, an all day demo at our club room by a well known lady turner. I was out from 08.30, for a 09.30 start, and not home again until almost 17.00.
SIL had school work to do, so DD and the boys left him in peace and came up here for lunch and to keep OH company, so there was no peace here!
I got home just in time to see them before they went home.
We had been booked for 3 Christmas craft fairs, but the first one, next weekend, has just been cancelled, which is very disappointing as it was the one where we did most business. DD is trying to find an alternative, but most are either fully booked, or clash with the 2 others we have booked.
Having notified DVLA about her Glaucoma diagnosis, OH has now received instructions from them to book a special test with our local Specsavers, then they will decide if she can continue to drive.
Have “booked” to go to visit DS next Saturday, have not been down to see them for a while. We will be with them for Christmas, so need to ascertain what they want us to bring.

A little better this morning, thanks Nellie....
Just sitting waiting for the window cleaner to come before I go out and clean the inside of the car.
The trouble with our window cleaner is that he uses one of these long handle things for the upstairs, and a good deal of 'extra-piping' for the water (distilled???) that he brings with him. I usually end up by moving my car. He's normally here early (9am), but so far, no sign of him!! Typical. The moment I start the car he'll arrive.....

They must have a contract with Specsavers as that was where Margaret was sent for her test. Only issue was that its not all branches which makes me wonder if they have Franchise branches? If her previous eye test was OK except for the Glaucoma with no immediate instruction not to drive I would have thought she should be OK, fingers crossed.

Another hold up getting OH home, all to do with spiking temps, but it’s better safe than not. Meanwhile he is getting his steps in exploring hospital🫣 Says he feels fine in himself. Video calling has made things easy to be honest. Whilst not far as the crow flies, the crow doesn’t have to contend with the traffic and accidents daily on M1, nor the somewhat pathetic rail and bus services to get anywhere North of Watford. But as I say, tech is our friend. Fingers crossed he will be home tomorrow. Will be collecting him Nellie, ironically, likely to have a Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff member with me, SIL drives Ambulances. We go as a team, and she knows her way round very well😁
There’s an article on the BBC website coincidentally about the hospital he is in. It’s a specialist wing that deals with Cancer, Transplants, etc….The lovely main atrium has works of art on the walls, sculptured seating, and resident pianists that make it a rather lovely space for patients, family and friends to use. Eateries as well, then all the Wards, treatment areas lead off in various directions.

Sorry to hear that ttda - fingers crossed he'll be let out tomorrow. I know when I was in for my Op, two years ago, I couldn't get out fast enough and rang Ros up and told her that if she didn't come and get me, I was coming home on the bus! Then she pointed out I didn't have any clothes.
Hope you're soon feeling better David - sounds like you've had that virus that Ros and I had a few weeks ago. Had all the symptoms of Covid but we both tested negative - we both felt dreadful for days. Our Doctor's surgery even had a notice in Reception warning that it was doing the rounds here, at the time.

David, not sure how it is organised, but OH was sent a list of 4 Specsaver branches she could use, one of them the local one we normally use. However the test has to be done within 28 days of the date on their letter or her licence will be suspended, and it seems they only do these DVLA tests on certain, very infrequent dates.
Letter was dated 5/11 and the first available appointment was on 30/11, a date on which we are not available. Later dates were suggested but all after the 28 day cut off time, and also all on days when we either have the grandchildren to look after or are already committed to something else.
So she phoned the next nearest branch, in Clydebank, and was able to choose from several dates, but only at 1.30 pm, most odd! However at least she is now sorted out and will go there on Monday 18th.
Our other activity today was cutting the fabric for curtains DD had asked us to make for Nathan’s bedroom. Poor boy has been waiting 18 months already. His room has a huge, tall and wide, window, so needs 2 widths per curtain, and a finished drop of 202 cm yo just below the sill.
The pattern repeat is 67 cm, so there will eventually be a fair bit to cut off each curtain, but not enough for matching cushion covers, though OH reckons she could do some patchwork ones using a plain contrasting fabric.
Next is to try to match the pattern exactly across the pieces to be joined.
We had to move the furniture and clear the sitting room floor to get enough space to roll out the fabric, all 11 metres of it. There will also be loose thermal linings, so 8 metres of that to cut into 2 metre lengths.
If we make a good job of it, DD will no doubt next be looking to have curtains made for the huge bay window in their bedroom, she has borrowed some old ones from us meantime, but the colours are all wrong for her decor.
Although not such a tall window, she will want floor length curtains, and the width of the track is 4.5 metres, so that will probably need 3 widths in each curtain. OH is going to suggest that she chooses a fabric that does not need matching, or something with a much smaller repeat!
Apparently, decent curtain fabric is pretty expensive these days, this stuff we are making up at present was about £15 per metre, but there was a 20% discount in their sale.

Tough luck, Ttda, but there's been quite a few stories of hospitals discharging too soon that they're probably right to err on the side of caution.
Been a lovely day weather wise in North Wales. Off in the van to a CL we last stopped at c30 years ago. Thought it was new to us but remembered it when we pulled in.
Spent the morning wandering around Conway RSPB reserve. Didn't realise they do an adult and child under 5 free time before 10.30 so we arrived at a cafe with about 20 mothers with babies in prams or strollers. Not quite what we expected when talking about "newly hatched".
After lunch we drove up into Llandudno for a stroll on the Great Orme and a look at St.Tudno church set on the hillside, Tudno being the person whom the town is named after. Put some photos up on Wednesday when we get home.

so just saying bye old CT

It is a shame that they wouldn't let him go home today, tda, but as you say better safe than sorry. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, and looks as if you will have the right person along with you when you collect him.
Lovely photos, heddlo, you have picked some of the right days to be in The Lakes.
I like the atmospheric photo, Rufs.
Kjell, you certainly are a glutton for hard/difficult work. Hope all goes to plan.
Mainly a paperwork day for me, apart for a quick visit to the vets with Flyte for his yearly injection. He has had a small lump behind his collar for a while, which the vet decided was a cyst. When she went to clear it she ended up getting sprayed with its content!! Thankfully it was just water, nothing worse.
