Frustrated

I've just been trying to plan my next holiday to Wales and I've spent over three hours getting nowhere. I don't want to book a club site, they are far too expensive and anyway Abbeywood is nowhere near Cardigan. I've tried to access CL's i don't want to choose by alphabetical order or average but by price and proximity, but Abingdon and Devon aren't anywhere near where i want to go. I tried the 'view by map' but it keeps taking me back to my midland home location. The APP keeps asking to download my location, despite the fact that it already seems to know it. Has anybody got the same impression as myself that this website was both designed by people who have never been actual camping and designed for an organisation whose prime concern is not its prime reason for its existence but to maximise its profits with little regard to its members wishes. I would be very surprised if this is allowed, my 'rant' has already been dumped twice. Its back to the paper map for me, it gives both proximity and prices, even though some are out of date

Moderator Comment - Richard we do allow the occasional rantwink I have moved this out of Stories into the CL section of Discussions. Freddy has provided you a link to follow. I think the reason you get Abbeywood is that you seem to trying to use the main site booking system?

I suggest you use the Search for Sites web site which has a good map function showing all sites, not just C!s, indicated by different symbols for type, within a specific area.

These days I always start from search for sites. If there is a CL or CS I like the look of then I look it up on the relevant club web site.
I do sometimes use the CAMC site and use the map search, but on a PC, and it can certainly not be intuitive. But because we use a variety of sites s 4 s gives me a better starting point.

Or you could try clsites.mx9.uk for something that's quick and easy to use on all sorts of devices. I set this up as a more accessible CL info source than that offered by CAMC - it's now exceeded 30,000 hits.

Alan191 - Great link and works 10 times faster than the Club system!

+1.  A few weeks ago I also posted (in another thread, can't remember which one it was) about how user un-friendly the search for sites on CAMC is and David Klyne pointed me to the same website. It's brilliant.

And like Hja above, I also use Searchforsites if I want to look for other sites too.
