Great news, B2, best wishes to all concerned.

Sorry to hear of the problems at the flat Kjell. Hope it is soon sorted out.

Pleased to read that those away are having a good time, even if the weather has not been the best for some of you, and fingers crossed that it doesn't hamper your enjoyment. Have a good trip to your CS, R&R.

Belated birthday greetings to your OH, Debs, and what a nice surprise for him with the younger males turning up.

We have decided to head off for a couple of weeks later this week and so far managed to book 3 sites, with another couple to find. We did have some other "good" news when viewing our latest bank statement, and saw that the C&CC had only charged us for two of the nights that we cancelled not the full amount.

We are home after an excellent 5 night break at Berwick Seaview club site. Weather was ok I managed to get out a cycle one morning and on Thursday it was very warm so we got to sit out and cook dinner on the Cadac. Also had a nice trip to Whitley bay and had a nice walk along the shore front which was very good. It was just nice to be away in the van again after being at home for the past few weeks. Easy 3 hour tow home today roads not very busy. Hoping to go away again at the weekend for a couple of nights just to one of our local haunts.

Continuing to have a fantastic time in the sun soaked Sorrento area. I've taken so many pictures it's impossible to choose which ones to post. Today was Capri which was just stunning.

It’s 😡😡😡 time of year here, otherwise known as time to renew Broadband contract. 45 minutes of discussion, hit them with a better deal, tell them they give nothing to loyal customers, dismiss offers 1,2,3, passed onto disconnect team…🤔 reject offer 4, 🤩 £18 a month off, and a Virgin wifi booster unit worth a lot of money. Rest and recharge now for 18 months……🤭

OH is tackling car insurance, nightmare😱

I made the decision to stay at the caravan for another day to let the storm pass over OH made the decision to go in case the river flooded, so we went. I got up early to find the site flooded by 2 or 3 inches of water, the river hadn’t flooded it’s just because the site is low and on a flood plain. Wellies on I loaded the car, because OH forgot his boots!! We left at 9am and drove home in the worst ever weather it just hammered down all the way with no let up til we got to Devon. The spray was really bad and lots of fire engines, ambulances and police going the other way, which didn’t look good and many hold ups. They shut the M5 at one stage. OH drove on the motorway, which I was glad of. We stopped for late breakfast at Gloucester services, which was very good.

OH received a letter to tell him that now he’s 80 he gets an extra 25p a week on his pension! So maybe a stay at the Hilton or a trip to the Bahamas, seriously you couldn’t make it up.

First load of washing in, tea break over so I’d better finish unpacking… I hate unpacking.

It's 8:35 pm and it's 24C. I'm sitting on a bench while Mrs C and daughter are shoe shopping - yes I know why we don't have these places back home I just can't fathom.

Anyway to while away the hours (not really joking btw) I thought I'd post some of my favorite photos. Not typical but I like them. I really like the photo of the chap on the phone for some reason. I've been informed that I wouldn't look as good wearing those clothes and I couldn't afford them.

The one of the food has Vesuvius in the background and the restaurant is on the left by the water's edge in the sunset one with the green building.

Glad to read that you made it home safe and sound through all that rain, Debs.

Grand photos, CS, we all could do with a bit of that sunshine and decent temperatures.

At home we have so far missed all of the bad weather with just the odd spot of rain. I was able to get both the caravan and the car cleaned outside, and the bedding etc, loaded in the dry, ready for our next trip.

Saturday was deluge day, Sunday was rain all day, some heavy some light, overnight was keep you awake heavy, today was mizzle with bursts of normal rain, non stop for last 3 days.

Don't know whether it affected the wifi as it was off and on over the weekend or whether it was just coincidence. So I guess that's it for Summer eh?

Good news was I was "allowed" to make bangers and mash with onion gravy tonight due to the cold weather (too many weathers/whethers in this postsmile).

Need to get out tomorrow and make sure the Ark is watertight. Bit worried as I saw both of the rats leaving the ship.

Exciting time tomorrow as our new garage door is being fitted. Woo-hoo.

Good to see some photos of sunshine and very grateful we went away last week and not this one.

Don’t spend the ‘extra’ all at once DEBSC, save up a month and you can nearly buy a first class stamp! 😂 Glad you made it home safely, it sounds a horrible journey.

Just catching up with all the news on here - belated congratulations B2 - wonderful news.

DEBSC - your journey home sounds horrendous - glad you got back safe and sound.

Corners - your holiday and the photos are bringing back such wonderful memories of our time on our yacht in the Med - which must be getting on for 30 years ago. Southern Italy was probably our favourite place- the people were so welcoming and friendly, and although we didn't go into the bay of Naples (the pilot book warns against going there for fear of theft etc), we did spend some time in Amalfi which was out of this world. Had to smile when you mentioned Capri - we gave it a wide berth - since just to anchor in the bay was £100 per night - even back then!! Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Stop it Corners - I'm so envious!!  (No - don't.  The photos are beautiful)

Tinny and ttda - hee hee - never thought of it like thatsmile. Most of the marinas were also charging about £40 per night, as well. Dread to think what it will be now.

Had a bit of an eventful morning.  Van and car were all packed yesterday and we were supposed to be leaving for the CS near Thornton Le Dale - but I was feeling dreadful this morning and decided that being on our own on a fairly remote farm site wasn't the best of ideas - especially at our age. Rang Rhonwen, whom we've got to know well over the years and she was lovely about it when I told her we thought it best to cancel.  Hated doing that and she refused any form of compensation (but I have sent her something anyway). Spent all morning in bed and feeling a bit better now - but we'll see how things go.

What a day. After my last post, the road to Amalfi, lunch I think in a place called Pontone, then Revello. Now enjoying a drink on the roof terrace.

That’s bad luck, hope you feel better soon. Lots of colds, snuffles, undiagnosed COVID around. We had to come home a night early from a CS earlier this year, in fact it was our last overnight stay out, as our elderly pooch can’t cope with MH overnight now. That was a tenner bandied backwards and forwards between site owner and me who insisted we have the money back. Lovely person, she knows we will go back again when we can.

Italy looks an absolute dream Corners, thanks for sharing photos.

Herculaneum today, which you knew better than me, was covered by a very hot, very fast moving mud which carbonised most things instantly then dried instantly. Only a quarter of the old city is on show while the rest is covered by the new.

The curved doors at the bottom were actually boat houses and that's where the sea was.

I'm on the hardened mud bank that covered the city.

RichardandRos saddened to read you needed to cancel starting your trip and needed to return to bed. I sincerely hope you're feeling better now.

Beautiful photos cornersteady, so VERY jealous of the blue sky. We've seen precious little here in recent times, Saturday we had a few hours before it turned WET and thundery.

Grey and jolly chilly today. Spending the day doing bare essentials as I seem to feel very tired.

Blasted weather bashed lots of my plants about 🤬 including my wonderful cosmos. Yet more rain forecast..... so I tied up things as best I could and snipped off heads that had gone over, I was aiming to dry them for as long as possible but that might be able to happen if the weather changes. But 🤞these for insurance.

Just starting to rain, although it's been spotting most of the day.

Which do you consider the best to visit Corners, Herculaneum or Pompeii? I ‘d hope to do both, but just wondered if we had to choose.

We were just discussing this in a bar. We've decided that both are equally fantastic. Pompeii has a sort of majestic feel being bigger and grander. Herculaneum is smaller and less crowded but has more charm.

You can easily do both in one day and most guided tours do just that.

Well it gets worse, they've gone into a Christmas shop!!

Anyway obviously these waiters are getting their free night booked up, the best exchange rate between GB and Scottish pound, and the question that's haunted me all my life, why is diesel cheaper in Italy?

I can remember when diesel was a lot cheaper than petrol here! A long time ago.

My BIL bought our dual fuelled Jeep Wrangler off us a few years ago. We had it converted to Gas not long after we bought it (it was a 4 litre rocket, heavy on petrol) so it made sense to do this as at the time, particularly as OH did the conversion and then had it certificated. Gas was 29.9p when we did this, so we paid around 2/3rds less for fuel. He still has it, but told us the other day that it’s now around £1.25 per litre😱

I noticed yesterday that at our local Tesco petrol and diesel were the same price, 132.9p, which I have not seen in quite a while. However at both Asda and Morrisons there is a 1p difference with petrol still cheaper.

Sorry to read that you have been unwell and not fit to hear off in your caravan, Richard. Hope you feel better today and can soon hear off again.

Grand photos, CS, you certainly have picked a lovely time to be over there.

Thanks for all your kind wishes - think I'm still getting over that dreadful cold we both had two or three weeks ago. It had all the symptoms of Covid - throat full of razor blades, dreadful cough and streaming with cold. Yet, we both tested negative. Talking to other people it seems to be doing the rounds at the moment.  We've both got our Covid and flu booster jabs in a week or so, so that should sort us out.

Keep the photos coming Corners - they certainly brighten up a wet and miserable grey daysmile

Hope folks are recovering from colds and coughs not good although the weather we have had here does not help, Covid cases are are the increase here at present and have heard a lot of folks coughing when out shopping.

Well we are having a very wet week here in the Haute Vienne heyho and staying in a gite, could do with some of that sunshine CS.

We should get our paperwork soon to take up the Flu jabs starts here from the 15th October and not due for next Covid jab until December,

Ttda you did say you will be like a pin cushion will all the jabs a friend of ours who has had treatment for Cancer has recently had 4 jabs at once 1 in each arm and 1 in each thigh and she said a bit sore next day and more to go so she will be like a pin cushion.

Think we will need a boat soon instead of a caravan ha ha.

    Take care folks.

Off to a local restaurant for lunch today recommended by the gite owners.

Whilst CS is enjoying his jaunt to the  Sorrento Peninsula I have been attending to more mundane issues like booking vaccinations of all varieties. A new one this year, and apparently a one off, is the RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) jab which is offered to people between the ages of 75 and 79. That's booked for this Friday and as we can't have it at the same time as the Flu jab the Receptionist said book that when you come in for the RSV.  Next up was this winter's Covid jab. Go online to book and all went well until I agreed to receive confirmation/cancellation information by email when the Chrome browser decided it didn't like the NHS website. Managed to book one appointment but then resorted to my phone to get the other one.
