Camping Gaz 907 bottle issue
Hi all - just packing up and on move to next French site and took bbq regulator off cylinder and it started hissing and gas escaping. Also feels like the cylinder has has water in it as some liquid sloshing. Any ideas - not sure safe to continue travelling with it and not sure where to take it?

Don't forget that the gas in the cylinder is in liquid form so I image you will hear it sloshing around if you shake the cylinder? All 907 cylinders come with a screw in cap with a carrying handle which should seal it.

I wouldn’t worry about the sloshing. It’s Liquified Petroleum Gas.
However, do not travel with or use a cylinder that is leaking. That’s a recipe for disaster.

With the current state of attitudes to health and safety I cannot give you this as advice. All I can do is report what I have done in the past.
The seal in these bottles is obtained by the internal gas pressure keeping a metal ball pressed against a rubber ring. The slightest bit of anything getting in the way will cause a leak. So what I have done myself is get a pair of thick gloves and a screwdriver and give the ball a wee push down. This releases a burst of gas which clears away whatever was stopping it being a good seal.
I have always done this in open air as the released gas could then disperse. The gloves are because I knew the release would be cold. It is worth mentioning for everyone that the transit plug does not just seal the cylinder mechanically it keeps any muck from getting into the valve.
The big safety warning is of course that any make of cylinder whether leaking or not should be kept upright and in a well ventilated space - preferably the open air. This is because leaking gas is a problem whilst a leak of the underlying liquid is a disaster because amount of liquid that can escape will turn into a vast amount of gas which is easily ignighted.
