Smev sink strainer plug problem.

My Smev sink plug strainer basket slowly drains away the water. What am I doing wrong? I push it down and twist it either left or right, but the water still drains away. I noticed there appeared to be a missing O rink washer underneath so I fitted one, but it seems to drain even faster! Have I fitted the wrong type of washer? Thanks.

    I have one in my Eriba and I found it an absolute pain.I do not believe the O ring is the fault. I considered swapping over the waste to something more normal, then suddenly found I could get the thing to work. To use it as you would a normal plug, you need to turn it slightly and you will feel it line up and then when pressing it down you will feel it engage into place. Only then it will not drain away during your washing up
