Sites for a mobility scooter user
My husband has trouble walking and uses a mobility scooter. Sometimes we would like to be able to leave the site without taking the motor home but many sites are on country roads with no pavements. Can anyone suggest somewhere with a paved walkway from the site to a local village/town/cafe? It would be good to just go out for a ‘walk’.

Just a few suggestions. Morton in Marsh, Broadway, Seacroft, Cayton Village, Tewkesbury, Lower Wensleydale, Great Yarmouth, Henley Four Oaks (although path a bit narrow until you get into Henley) Cherry Hinton. There are probably many more. It really depends how far you want to travel in the scooter, and how far you can walk?

Norfolk Broads site, Pembrey Country Park, Stover, Stonehaven.
Perhaps the thread of sites where no car is needed might be of interest.

Melrose in actually in the (small) town, White House Beach likewise though a seaside village. Old Hartley near Whitley Bay has a good flat walkway to Whitley Bay, it's 2.5 miles and sorry I don't know what your range is? But then the rest of the coast there down to Tynemouth is also available and again on a good wide walkway. I'll try and think of some more.

Castleton in Derbyshire is on the edge of town with walkable path, Thirsk Racecourse site is again on edge of town, Ferry Meadows Peterborough has plenty of opportunities for walks from site as does Clumber. From memory, not that reliable these days, Littlehampton might fit the bill. At Bridlington you can walk to Sowerby Hall or down into Brid itself.

Ashridge Farm. Interesting village. I used my mobility scooter to get to and around. Mostly footpaths, although some not very wide. I seem to remember having to use the road in parts but it was very quiet, so no problem.
if you like CLs there is a great off grid CL at Stoke Breurne with walks along the canal and if your OH can get up stairs, a nice little museum. Great ice cream from one of the pubs as well.1 -
And if you venture away from Club sites you could try sites at Cardiff, Filey, Felixstowe, Southwold and Stratford upon Avon which would all fit the bill.

Edinburgh club site has a pavement down to the 'beach' and onwards to Cramond beach which has cafes along the way, it's downhill though if that matters?

Thank you so much to everyone who has replied - we really appreciate your help. We live on the south coast on the Hants/Sussex border and are planning a trip for September with no fixed ideas at the moment about where we want to go. You have given us some great suggestions and we’re having a planning evening at the moment. To answer Cornersteady’s question about our range, the mobility scooter can do 8 miles before needing to be recharged but my legs start to complain after 3 miles!

By the way, when you have found any site you could use Google Street view to check for pavements.

White Water Park on Teeside should suit as you could use the broad riverside path to get into Stockton town centre.
