We currently have a caravan and  we are looking to change to a motor home next year.  The caravan is in storage at an inconvenient location and local availability is really poor.   A 6 m motor home will go on our drive.  Does anyone have experience of a difference in insurance costs between on drive v in a CoSSOA gold site with a motorhome?   Is there much of an increase. And if anyone can recommend a company.   We currently use Caravan Club insurance

  Many thanks in advance.  Clive

Storage prices vary site to site and you give no idea of yours. As you will know, insurance costs depend on so many factors and it pays to shop around. There are numerous companies out there. All I can say from personal experience is that it cost roughly the same to insure our MHs with NFU as it did for our last tow car - a Mitsi Shogun.

Be aware that unless you have NCD you can transfer to the new MH policy, you will likely pay 100%, or near, of the full cost.

We pay 560 a year storage and around 400 insurance at present.  I will be keeping a car with NCD so I am guessing paying full price for MH insurance. Info on Wed sites suggests 350 to 700but I’m unsure if that is when held on a site rather than at home.

You may get a small discount if you insure a MH with the same company as your car but, even if you don’t, you will soon build up NCD on the second policy. You will have the option of transferring your NCD from the car to the MH if that works out more beneficial.

As for location, each postcode area differs depending on risk so it’s impossible to guess. Why not pick a likely sounding MH and ask a company for a quote? That’ll be the most accurate way to get an idea.
