We still have our kuga diesel, it is a great tow car and we shall probably keep it now untill we stop towing, another couple of years, hopefully. We do find the Kuga is a bit big for some car parks , but it suits us for now.
We haven't had a petrol car for years so I can't comment on your new car, but I hope you get a lot of pleasure out of it. Let us know your mpg when you are towing, with the diesel we get about 30mpg, that a 2l Kuga towing 15cwt. caravan.

Joanie, is that a typo. Do you mean 15cwt, which is about 680kg, or 1500kg?

We are on our second Kuga the first one was a mild hybrid diesel our present one is a PHEV 2022 2.5 ltr which tows our 1381kgs with no problems flying up Birdlip and telegraph hills, on both cars we went for the factory fitted tow bar just press the button and your ready to hook up

Telegraph Hill that a real killer, our 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 PHEV towing our 1500kg caravan we still had about 5 miles EV range left is disappeared within a few minutes,I thought the ICE was going to pop out of the bonnet, going down the other side we gained 2 miles EV.

The last time we went up Birdlip hill we got stuck behind a split screen Morris minor doing about 15/20 MPH, finally there was a break in the traffic in the outside lane and we got past him he gave us a wave as we passed him by. At the top of Birdlip there used to be the apply named pub the "Air balloon"

We have a Ford Kuga FHEV 2.5L 2023 ST Line X max towing weight 1600kg
It towed our 1300kg Swift Challenger competently without any trouble on two trips last year, mpg whilst towing was around 30mpg - exceptional for a petrol hybrid!
We've swapped our Swift for a 1500kg Coachman Pastiche with a short weekend run 3/4 loaded, no problems.
It will be tested fully in a couple of weeks when we go up to Melrose from Peterborough and back via Hawes.....
