Is it vital to book?

We usually go to Europe in the Spring, then again in late Summer but have to stay in UK this Spring. Is it necessary to book everything or can we do as in Europe, tour around and just arrive as we would do in Europe? We would use a variety of sites, not just Club sites. Thanks

Not sure if you have a van or a MH, but if it’s a MH, it’s not as difficult as you think to find some nice “book as you roll” options. Scotland is the easiest of the home nations, but if you mix things up and use CLs, CS’s, small private, pub stops and some of the legal stopovers it’s quite easy. Searchforsites website is our preferred option for finding places to stay. You might want to take a look at some options before heading off, as size matters for pub stops and some other stayovers. Some areas, and some periods might be busier than others, but if you keep your options open, you will be fine. Some allow a single night, some you can stay a bit longer. Don’t expect all the Aires to be free, and be aware that you might want to get to some places early afternoon to get a space.

You probably can but you may need always have a plan B or even C. Obviously during school holidays more places tend to get fully booked. Over the years I suspect Club members have got into the habit of booking everything in advance, that was just the way it was. The new system probably frees up a bit more space. There are a few, very popular sites out there that are always booked up but I suspect there are even more sites that have some space.

Spring is when most people start to tour, so if you want a stress free tour and a guaranteed pitch for the night I would strongly suggest that you book in advance.

Just phone as you are having breakfast.
