What is the English Language

If you ever wondered what makes up the English Language then perhaps this YouTube video would help? What I don't understand is that whilst a third of the words we use are French why is it so difficult to speak a good level of that language?

    Se faire avocat du diable, do the French find it easy to learn English because of this?
