using a generator

got a weekend trip planned to a british super bike meeting at snetterton race track we are taking our van a bailey orion there is no electric hook up so using a petrol generator for the first time . so my question is what can we expect to operate power wise will the generator only recharge the battery so in theory we will only have battery power as well as our on board gas any help and advice will be welcome

    What you will be able to use will be dependant on the size of the generator. A 4 or 5 Kva generator will be the same as being on a 16 amp electric hook up.

    just had a look it power output is 2kw is that good enough for a weekend

    That'l give you about 8 amps. More than enough to charge the battery and run some small appliances, lights, T.V. maybe a low wattage kettle etc. but not enough to run the heating and hot water on full, Probably best to use gas for those.

    thank you sounds like a plan the race meeting is in july so should be warm enough
