Could someone, a Mod or a person from HO, explain why there are pages and pages of old posts, many dating from 2012, in most sections and which show no replies to them? There are subjects there which must have been answered when they were posted, and which keep coming up as new queries. What happened to those answers? Is it any wonder why this forum gets slower and slower, and has fewer and fewer new members!

I recall Rowena posted about the future development of the forum/community guidelines etc late Spring/early Summer 2023 so maybe it’s something to do with that.  Only recently come back to CT but otherwise things on CT appear much the same  to me on my laptop.

From memory, not always as reliable as it once was, but around 2016 there was a major revamp of the forum. At that point some or all the old original posts remained but all contributions to the discussions were deleted. This leads to the situation where by if for some reason if an old thread is liked etc it appears as a post with just the original post but no replies. At the same time there was a major disruption to the Story Section where pictures were attributed to the wrong story. I think that's the best I can offer by way of an explanation.

I can vaguely remember the upsets that those changes caused, David, but I can't understand why they left the questions without the responses to them. All that does is make searching for a specific subject nigh impossible.

I have noticed on some forums, not usually caravan related, that topics are often locked after a certain time which might have been a better option? You could still see the discussion but you would not be able to leave another comment. Whilst its possible for mods/admin to remove a thread from view I don't recall the rational in just leaving the main discussion starter but deleting all the comments. The only thing that crosses my mind is that it was to save space?

Leaving just the OP is an odd way to run a discussion forum. I also note some older threads appear to have been totally removed, not even the OP has been left and you get page not found. I know this because I kept an index of links to threads that had an interest for me. e.g. metering of electricity use.  However, this is not the case because if I google the subject as in this saved link

    https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/caravan-sites/uk-caravan-sites/is-it-time-for-metered-pitch-electricity/

you can find the OP by searching "Is-it-time-for-metered-pitch-electricity and Club Together" This will give you

    https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/uk-sites-touring/is-it-time-for-metered-pitch-electricity/

but again only the OP is available. The URLs appear to have been changed over time probably during up dating!
