Air or pole?
Ignoring the weight / cost / ease arguments, which would members advise when on seasonal pitch - Air or Pole based purely on suitability?

A good quality pole awning. No brainer.

I would check that you can leave an awning up when you're not there on your seasonal site. I'm pretty sure you can't with the club, but please check. If you can't then a quicker to erect air awning might be a better bet, or I have seen air awnings just left in place with pegs and in the rail but deflated and securely fastened down, then it's just easy to inflate on arrival.
Also would you be happy leaving a pole awning up when you're not there? They can do a lot of damage with the poles hitting the caravan in a storm while an air awning won't.
Putting up an air awning is in our experience far quicker as there's no setting out of poles and then putting them up, the canvas parts weighs more of course.
There are seasonal air awnings out there, I certainly wouldn't go back to poles.

I think you'd be wise to seek advice from a site warden, as they probably have the best experience of having an awning up all season, or even all year.
Personally, I wouldn't leave it up all season if the option was available, as it will deteriorate quicker due to sun damage, and there is always the chance of damage for other reasons. I was speaking to a warden once who told me that he was buying a new one every 2 to 3 years for this reason.
On that basis, I'd go air.

Unless you need additional living space and assuming you expect the weather to be warm and sunny-ish I'd opt for an air canopy such as the Isabella Air Arc sun canopy and only put it up when your staying in your caravan.
The Isabella Air Arc is really robust and can be erected single handed in 10 mins.

When all goes horribly wrong, who picks up the awning pieces? Who’s responsible for the damage? I’ve seen a storm go through a site and many awnings and contents ended up in the skip. Not a pretty site and not one I’d enjoy being phoned up and requested to attend site asap to clear up my mess. Surely common sense is to ensure it doesn’t happen in the first place regardless of solid or air poles.
