Fridge vent covers
The November issue of the club magazine suggests using fridge vent covers while the motorhome/caravan is in winter storage. Has anyone tried using them and if so any comments?

They’re normally supplied with the caravan/MH although I think there are some fridge vents which won’t accept them. If we had them, we used them every winter. They help keep draughts, muck and vermin out of the cavity and some fridge instructions recommend using them when the fridge is in use below a certain external temperature. Check your handbook/instructions for your particular fridge.

We have had to purchase them flavour last couple of caravans, and I always use them during the winter, as directed in the hand book, when the temperature is around 8 C and below. I will be putting ours on shortly. They also help to stop water ingress if you used a power spray when washing your unit.

I'm showing my ignorance here. I thought they were only needed when using a van/caravan over the winter and had not thought about using them for winter storage.
As regards a power/jet wash, this is something I would never consider using on a caravan, motorhome or car. They offer a realistic potential to inflict serious damage on any painted surface, soft material [plastic window] or seal.

EM, what I meant was when using a hose attachment with just normal water pressure.

Never used them in 25+ years of caravanning, and more to the point never seen them or heard of their existance until now, maybe i am a novice, sometimes caravan is parked up for the winter sometimes it is in warmer climes, as for vermin getting in, my lowest one is some 3ft off the deck ? . Never bought a new new caravan and have never seen such covers with my used caravans.
