"They say that they have received further guidance from the NPCC"

Rather strange as guidance, on what constitutes a reasonable excuse to leave home, was issued by the NPCC last year and, to paraphrase, the walk should take longer than the drive.

The latest .Gov info is that you must have a reasonable excuse to leave your home.

As we all know that is open to interpretation but, as an example of how it can differ my nearest supermarket is 18 miles away, so may be reasonable to drive there, but may not be reasonable to drive 18 miles if there is one just down the road.

I don't know, I have them on DVD from way back. There are parts of them on youtube and there may be even complete episodes but I haven't found any? I like this one as it shows him actually smiling,

I would agree with the above.
As we have been using Tesco online we have not visited our nearest Waitrose (16miles away) for almost a year. Yesterday in an attempt to get us back they sent a brace of £18 off £90 vouchers, only redeemable in store. I’ve no intention of using them and we have passed on similar from other stores. However, given the timing and the fact they know how far we are from the store, I thought it a bit irresponsible.

At least Notts Chief Constable indicated 5 miles is OK, so we should be safe walking in Clumber when we tire of our local forest.😀

As Corners says YouTube is the place to go.

There may also be a BBC recording of his Desert Iln Discs interview in the archive.

Can I just remind folks that this thread is about winter walks.  There is a separate thread to discuss COVID in general.

She's walking Padstow to Trevone Bay right now, brue, one of our favourites though we usually do it in the opposite direction and make it circular by following the little lanes inland  - advantage being that it takes us right past the award winning farm shop on the hills above the town. smile

See RandR's post on "Hacking". Strange posts appearing everywhere since Maintenance last night.
