Fluctuating water pressure

Hi,

Sorry if this is answered else where but am struggling to find it if it is.

Have recently replaced my water pump (whale in van one with water pipe to outside) as it went faulty and since then have been struggling with maintaining water pressure.
Initially after the system has pressurised water comes out fine but after 10 ish seconds it starts to slow and then either becomes a trickle, coughs or stops. The whole time the pump is running.

when I shut off the tap the pump may or may not re pressurise the system.

feels airlock related but have done my best to get rid of these but may be failing.

I definitely don’t have a water leak because have checked thoroughly when the first pump failed an dumped 40l of water through the hot tank overflow/over pressure pipe.

Any one got any ideas because I’m lost and loathed to book it in with a workshop with something that feels like should be an easy fix.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Many thanks

Chris

Sounds like you might be sucking in air. Check all the connections on the suction side of the pump to your water container. A joint can be water tight but not air.

Is the hot water drain valve open?

Does your water system have a water filter? If so replacing it, or leaving it out alltogether, might help.

Will try this. Was thinking of bypassing the caravan plumbing side and just running a pipe directly from the pump to a separate small tank.

    Thanks

It does and have run it with and without the filter thinking that might be the problem but no luck.

If I wasn’t away with 2 small children I’d be much more able to investigate throughly.

Just a thought, the replacement pump although the exact same model number had 15mm fittings rather that 12mm. I have changed the relevant fitting needed to be 15mm and used inserts on the end i was told to but think inserts on the pump side might help? It’s not leaking at all but might that be the problem?

Sounds like the pressure sensor needs adjustment, thats assuming your system has one.
