    That's you but the OP came of his own free will to a club site that does have rules. And he agreed to be bound by them.

    Well it's lucky for people who want to pitch up without rules that Dartmoor is now open again  for wild camping.

    There are such sites, there's almost always an exception to anything.smile

    I came across one that said "There are no rules but be nice to each other". This was a few years ago and I really can't remember the site. It was on UK Campsite website.

    However I do agree with you that it should be avoided and we did.

    I’m sorry the OP has had his awning damaged, but don’t think it’s a good idea to lay the blame at the feet of staff, or the Club. I spent a working life time being litigated against, and all that happens is you have to try and cross every T, dot every I, to try and think of every circumstance, no matter how irrational it might seem to be, to prevent someone doing something that could end in a bad way. That’s why nowadays organisations have so many rules, regulations, does and donts. When I started work, it wasn’t quite as bad, but as the years went by, the litigation culture took hold, and no matter how absurd, someone would always try it on.

    I am not for one minute saying this is what has happened in OP’s case, but sometimes, things don’t work out as expected. I like sites that are laid back, where you are left alone as much as anyone else, but they come with the proviso that you don’t do anything without a lot of thought. 

    I hope the awning repairs go ok, and are not too expensive.

Our Site Staff are the face of the Club and providing excellent customer service is something that we always strive for. We always welcome the opportunity for feedback and you can do this here. 

    I will now close this discussion as we would like complaints to be addressed via the proper channels.
