Avtex Tourer 2 Sat Nav
Not sure if I'm in the right section but here goes..
I have an Avtex Tourer 2 satnav. I have downloaded all map and software updates as far as I am able, (I don't have a micro SD card as yet so not the full package of maps) and have selected English as my language and Serena British English for directions etc.
I have a problem though, with Voice Commands. It will work, after a fashion but isn't always immediately responsive and will only work on a few of the files. For example, if I ask it to select Find a Place, Find a Town, Find a Post Code, it comes up with the response: This Feature is not available in British English.
I know other people with this model and theirs work fine and the only thing I can think of is not having an SD card, prevents maps fully downloading and restricts what can be searched for by Voice Command.
I have searched the Garmin website and have carried out all their suggestions with no joy but wondered, as this is a CAMC supported product, if anyone on here might have any thoughts on what might be causing this issue?

I think that you are correct in your assumption that you need the sd card.
I guess what is happening is that, due to your lack of storage, not all the necessary codecs, voice files and other information is being made available to the sat nav operating system.
Therefore the OS can't do as you request.
My Memory, www.mymemory.co.uk, is a good place for sd cards of all types and sizes.

To add to my thoughts, once you have installed the sd card you might need to perform an OS update to ensure that all the necessary files are downloaded into the sat nav to enable all functions to work.
As for CMHC supporting the sat nav, don't hold your breath! Your best source of support will be Avtex. CMHC just rebadge the item and make a profit. They will have no idea how it works.

Many thanks for replying. I managed to get an online chat with Garmin last night and they also confirmed that all maps etc need to be downloaded for Voice Commands to be fully activated therefore the SD card is required. I have ordered one so hopefully that will resolve the issue.

Whilst awaiting the SD card arrival it would be useful to make sure you update Garmin Express. The few glitches I've experienced with with my unit have all been sorted once this was done, oh, and an SD card was put in for extra memory a few years ago.

I inserted an SD card immediately I purchased mine as it comes with very minimal 'free' memory & always perform software & map updates via Garmin Express on my laptop.
I also use the Garmin Drive app on my phone which enables you to send an address to the sat nav via Send to Device... it's a great tool
Mine has been very accurate in here & in EU, very happy with it.
