Freelander 2 towing advice sought please
I’ve recently bought a 2011 Freelander 2 auto and was wondering whether using sport mode might be a better option for towing my Coachman 520 MTPLM 1465kg?
Any comments much appreciated

Have you tried it to see how it tows in Sport and does your car handbook contain any guidance? Those are usually the best places to start👍🏻

Depends on the road I would think. If lots of hills & the gearbox wants to hunt between gears, then Sports mode might help .... I used to select Sports in my Omega & Senator before it on occasion, but it wasn't needed all the time. Also Sport might very well prevent your car from selecting a higher gear when it might be able to support it.
Suck it & see 👍

Hi andybe, I have a Freelander 2 SD4 HSE auto 2011 and leave it in Drive. It generally stays in 6th but can sometimes hunt between 5/6th depending on speed & inclines. I then slide it over to what you called "sport" and hold it in 6th or 5th depending on the road. Fantastic tow cars and good mpg as well, I love the car. Having had various estate cars, an X1 and a few CRVs it is by far the best for us.
