Well we invited all on site to come for a celebratory drink at around 2.30 this afternoon. Thankfully after heavy rain all last night and this morning the weather was kind and we had warm sunshine most of the afternoon. We had 36 campers come over with glass in hand and I must say what a great social event it was. We sort of spilled onto the grass area across from reception and after we'd saluted the king with some fizz we all sat around on the grass chatting about life in general. It was a really great couple of hours and the occasion reminded us of what vanning is all about, no internet and all the fun people like to have with that, no one feeling judgemental over others, just like minded people enjoying the moment. We're now on our rest days for this month so we're sat in the camper reflecting on what's been a rubbish month weather wise but with a great end with the coronation celebrations.
Wine o'clock now

OH has just told me something she never mentioned before.
Apparently her maternal grandmother, whose husband died in 1940 on a minesweeper off the Suffolk coast, was allocated a seat along the route of the procession in 1953 as a representative of the War Widows, and that somewhere her Mum had the Coronation programme her mother had. I have never seen it, will need to look through all MiL's stuff.
We have twice visited the memorial in Lowestoft where OH's grandfather is named, once with DS and once with DD. His name is also in the memorial book in Edinburgh Castle, and in a museum in Aberdeen, where all OH's family come from.

Couldn't watch the coronation as no TV signal on our site here on Mull, weather unlike in London and at home has been beautiful today after a couple of showers first thing.
We had a walk along Salen Bay just on the off chance we might catch a glimpse of an otter, but no luck 🙁
This afternoon we drive over to Calgary, for a walk round the sculpture forest which was a bit disappointing, but the beach made up for it. 🙂
Have been sitting outside tonight listening to a cuckoo somewhere in the trees behind the site, we have heard so many cuckoo's this week they must be doing well up here. Never seem to hear them at home.
Great photos Moulesy I love that view.
Photo of the beach at Calgery and Loch Tor.

Lucky you! I haven't seen the sun all today at this side of the country! In fact most of the day has been thick mist or heavy rain, still one up side, there was no thunder! I suppose as it was so wet another upside is that I couldn't do gardening!
Yes, the coronation was spectacular, I didn't notice any glitches! It would have been terrible to be the one serviceman to have been out of step!
H & T Calgary beach was where I visited about 34 years ago, there was one car in the car park, it belonged to a friend that I travelled to work on the bus! Neither of us had mentioned that we were going there.

We have had rain on and off for most of the day, although there was some blue skies this evening. Didn't do much, a couple of wet walks and three dry ones so far, but lots of clouds still about so I will be taking a brolly on our last walk shortly. We didn't watch any of the coronation, not having a tv with us, and I feel a large screen is needed to appreciate the spectacle fully. Hopefully we will be able to sort out our phone contract tomorrow when we visit the 3 shop in Hereford.

Good to see the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch having a starring role today😁 I enjoyed the history, seeing such items actually being used is far better than seeing them behind glass.

I enjoyed watching the Coronation. I was slow to start the day so didn't get back in from the dog walk until they'd left the Palace! Was surprised to see that was in the rain. The rain arrived here soon after.
History in the making and bringing it life. We do Pagentry so well. I admire all the hard work that went into putting it together as much as the Spectacle. Glad I wasn't invited, Dame Grey-Thompson was in Westminster at 0630.
Milliehull what an achievement for your milliner 😉 daughter in law. You're right to be very proud.
Forecast is looking good for our Close BBQ 🤞. Must start the day and dog walk in a timely fashion today! Getting foggy at the moment.
Oneputt you're somewhere I can't recall visiting, possibly a drive around once many years ago. Should be some good wildlife in the area.
Right time to move.

Ps I loved the formation change maneover by the Royal Airforce just before the Victoria Monument . Explained by the chap who was with Clare Balding as especially created to go from 12 to 6 abreast to enter the Palace gate.
Had to rewind and watch several times in the evening - it was that slick. Heard it described at the time in the commentary but had subtitles on for the ceremony. They were always at the bottom of the screen 😢.
Was also impressed by Princess Anne out and on horseback within minutes. Go lady go. 👏

" Think we will stay where we are until midweek when hopefully it will have washed through. Either that or we will head to Spain for awhile"
not sure where you are planning to head to in Spain TG, but lots of reports in Spanish press re shortages of water, shipping it in in some areas in tankers, however, some of the water is being taken from reservoirs that are contaminated, Murcia region seems to be ok just now but it is early in the year, but not a lot different to UK i guess i believe still hose pipe ban in some parts of Devon & Cornwall
p.s. very hot in the Torrevieja area

OHs chest infection got a lot worse so I rang our surgery on Friday, the nurse prescribed strong antibiotics, she said this is happening to a lot of people locally after contracting covid. She then sent the prescription electronically to the local chemist here and I collected within the hour, quicker and better than if we had been at home. I only wish that I had done it sooner, he does seem to be coughing less already.
We throughly enjoyed the Coronation, watched it from start to finish with my cousin and her husband, they arrived at 10am and left at 7pm. We had a lovely day and a really good catchup, nice to watch it all with them. The meal was timed for just after the balcony appearance. Two strong women stood out for me - Penny Mordant and princess Anne, she will be 73 in August but no carriage for her, straight up on that horse. She did her brother proud.
Very early yesterday morning, while still in bed, I also heard a cuckoo calling.

I think the commentators said that that military manoeuvre had been specially created to get a wide fronted parade slimmed down to get round the corner and through the gate, but it was astonishingly slick and efficient. The whole parade was fabulous, a riot of colour and history. I can just imagine had it been me in that gilded coach swaying about, I wouldn’t have lasted 100 metres. Princess Anne was a rock for the Queen, and seems to be the same for her brother. I thought Penny Mordant’s role was so interesting, and she looked very imposing in that outfit.
There’s apparently a real irony to how it came about, Liz Truss gave her the role, (which is a somewhat obscure and seldom seen one,) hoping to shove her into the sidelines after their bid to become Tory Leader. Less than a week later, PM was a big part of the Queen’s funeral, and then gets a full on starring role and the best view of an event that takes place very rarely.

Debsc I hope your OH recovers well now that antibiotics are playing their part. We were both ill for about six weeks earlier this, covid tests negative but very much like covid with horrible coughs. We both cough now although recovered, makes you realise we're lucky to have a vaccine preventing even worse effects.
Our street party is ready to roll, all the tables in a long line and the tea urn on standby! It's a combination of two streets and visitors. Competition for the best hat, we know how to live it up... 🥳

I watched parts of the Coronation yesterday although did record it and thought as usual the UK know how to put on a Ceremonial event and enjoyed the outside events as many of my family were in the Guards and Household Cavalry.
Weather here was very warm at 31.8C but the day ended in a very heavy downpour and a storm most of it right overhead and a lot of power cuts so an early night and everything looking very lush with all this rain and more to come this week.
Glad your OH is recovering Debsc and friends of ours have been poorly to the point going to doctors and having to take antibiotics and now feeling better and they did have Covid over Xmas period whilst in UK and they both have had 5 covid jabs, we have got friends here they both have had 3 and no more said that is enough but her son in UK is a anti vaccination and said we do not need all these jabs so hence of same view heyho we are all different if we get the 6th jab we will take it.
Enjoy the rest of bank holiday also a holiday here with Victory day tomorrow so a few folks are here for a long weekend even had loud music across the fields last night but stopped by the weather.

lovely day here today in Cheshire I was up early and out a 20 mile cycle now back at the van sitting out in the sun don’t think we will be going far today just enjoy the sun while we have it. Watched all the coronation yesterday brilliant spectacle and as has been said before no other nation does it quite like us
Hope everyone else is having a nice day1 -
Walked over to the local Co-Op to buy a couple of newspapers this morning. Margaret likes to collect "State Occasions". Unfortunately probably a bit early for the colour supplements of the coronation. Up in the loft I am sure I a collection of newspapers at the time of the late Queen's Coronation in 1953. Probably some titles that no longer exist like the Daily Sketch!

We have had a fabulous day out at the Irish Setter rescue walk. Perfect weather, dry, sunny but not too hot and some of the dogs found their own way of keeping cool! Good turn out too, with 60 or so dogs there and a good sum raised for the charity. And, as ever, the organiser sent us off with some cakes to keep us going for the rest of the week!

Looks a good meet up M👍 Hope those poorly are on the mend.
Spent the day giving MH a real good clean and polish inside today, I like to check all cupboards and lockers, make sure we don’t end up with lots of unwanted clutter. Just food and clothes to go in now. OH will do outside. Looking forward to a few nights away, got a few things planned to do if we get the chance. Fingers crossed Mum stays ok now🤞

We have heard lots of cuckoo's here on Mull, they are doing well up here.

I hope your street party went well brue. I love the idea of the hat competion - photos please!
DEBSC. I do hope your OH's chest infection is improving. Wonderful service from your GP surgery. It makes you fearful of how desperately ill we would have been with covid without the jab.
What a wonderful day you have had for your setter meet up moulesy. I love the photo of the dogs cooling off in the water.
You sound as though you are having such a wonderful time on Mull Helen. We had a brief time on Mull some years ago and really enjoyed our time there. We also took a trip to Iona and thought it a very special place.
I started the day giving a reading at the Cathedral (very nervous 🥺) and then we went to a Coronation BBQ given by our daughter's parents in law. We all took some contributions of food and drink and had a wonderful time in such lovely weather. How lovely that the sun shone for the street and garden parties.

Looks like a good setter meet Moulsey, glad you had good weather.
We had another warm sunny day here on Mull, infact we have had pretty good weather all week.
Decided that as we had already done the coast path from Tobermory to Aros Park we would do the lighthouse walk today, beautiful views. Came back via the cliff top, although after one scramble up I declined the second one and came down to rejoin the main path.😊
Took the awning down today as some rain forecast for tomorrow and we start to wend our way home on Tuesday. Hopefully the ferry will be okay, it broke down middle of the week and no vehicles were getting to and from Mull. I think OH is hoping we have to stay. 🤣🤣
Ttda, hope everything falls into place and you can get away.
