Yes indeedy!!! What a good idea - the driver can see a peg from whatever side he is reversing from. I commented on it to the warden, who said 2 pegs have been rolled out across the network "because some people have difficulty in understanding the rule when there was only one peg."

Unfortunately the concept of left and right when thinking of one peg is something that should have been mastered in childhood but has evaded some. It is so much easier to say go between those two pegs.

Whilst I will admit that the two peg system seemed somewhat OTT it does at least leave members in no doubt where they should position their unit. I don't think I have been on a Club site where I wasn't given instructions on how to position my caravan/motorhome but some people seemed to have difficulties understanding the concept when there was only one peg!

As said it's been going for a good while, I noticed it last year.
We found the two pegs useful when pitching a week ago, we didn't have an awning so went further to the right giving more room for the car. It was about a foot leeway.

Yup we will be on one of those next Friday in oggie land, mind you sometimes pegs are not a bad thing, once pulled in late at Tebay services, reversed in for an overnighter OG

depends on whether you're reversing in from the near or off side ... if I'm reversing from my nearside I have problems looking through my caravan to see the peg & EmilysMum manages to stand in the only place on site where I can't see her

As far as I remember you can go nose or rear in on CAMC sites regardless of whether your unit was manufactured over here or over there. The pegs are really only there to help a few understand and maintain firebreaks. Don’t think the pegs constitute regimented pitching but they do provide a talking point for a few who don’t understand the need.

obviously doesn't matter where the caravan was made, but it would be pretty pointless pitching rear offside to the peg if your caravan's door then faced away from the pitch you've just parked on .... especially if you'd wanted to put up an awning!

But there are pitches, quite a few in my experience which it makes not a jot of difference and good manners can be maintained like those at the end of roads and runs of pitches. You just have to employ common sense and not pander to those who are lost in their own regimented ways.

You still can on pitch row or road ends in many cases without impinging on others. What about if you are the first to a row others who follow should show the same courtesy to you which ever way you pitched. Afterall the club does not determine the correct way. I’ve noticed that on sites like Troutbeck Head and at others there are pitches where practically everyone, regardless of unit, chooses to go in nose first. Makes sense to me both view and afternoon sun are the draw and no one complains to my knowledge, they have been like this for many years.
