As we had to give gas and electricity use figures to Octopus to make the switch, I worked out what we have used in the year April 25th 2022- April 25th 2023, and found that due to our new boiler fitted in May, and new controls fitted in December, our use of gas was only 62% of the previous year, which is good. Better than expected too.
Electricity is also down to about 90% of last year, mainly due to switching off the caravan.
As a result our DD will be £57 less than at present.

I think we will just have to keep the money in the bank ABM, the boiler etc, and controls plus installation cost £3700, so it will take many years to save that amount!
Mind you, the boiler was 34 years old, and never needed any repairs, so cannot really complain.
Only replaced it to get a more efficient boiler now gas is so expensive, but unfortunately we also had to have a new hot water cylinder.

DSB - when are you going to Poole? And are you staying at South Lychett Manor? We are there until the 30th. Hopefully we'll have the Veduta erected properly by then!

Like your photos H&T and yes Peacocks can be very noisy at this time of year.
Time to clean inside of OH's Landcruiser and get it done or mini heatwave of possibly 30C and before thunderstorm late this afternoon that will keep me busy for awhile, car will get washed next week at local car wash ready for our break from next Sunday also try to get caravan cleaned but forecast not good for next week.

Wow!!! what do you run in the caravan?, mine is almost permanently plugged into mains just to keep the battery in good condition, but it uses very little lecce, pennies

Plans are nor really that advanced yet, R&R. I'm not booking anything in with John Rose until we're got the van 'in our hands', so to speak, just in case there is a delivery delay... When we have the 'van, not only will I have to book in with John Rose, but then I'll need to book a site.... and the Monday after the proposed handover is the Spring BH, so it might be more difficult to get in at a site. I think I'll just have to take it one step at a time....
I've looked at Lychett Manor and we'll definitely go there at some stage. In the past, we've always used Hunter's Moon or Wareham Forezt, when we've gone to this area. I reckon this time around it will depend in availability.

Congratulations to the OP's from us too. Our 50th is on the horizon, did think about a hospitality box at the Mem to watch The Gas next year but I think Mrs M has something more upmarket in mind!
Early start today to fit in a walk (2 for Ralph), watching the coronation and then shopping for this week's stay. So it was one of our favourite short walks from here up to Monsal Head and down to Ashford in the Water and back across the fields.
I'm not a huge monarchist but I have to say I was mightily impressed by the staging of the occasion, the procession back to the Palace and the music during the service. Bryn Terfel singing in Welsh was fantastic.

I think I am Coronationed out now having spent several hours watching it! Shame about the weather but had it been better there would have been less reason to watch it! It is all quintessentially part of British Life and we always put on a good show. I suppose over the coming Coronations there will be increasing calls to end the Monarchy but I do wonder if people need to stop and think what sort of replacement would be wanted in its place as its very tied up in our Constitution?

Lovely photos M. We were fascinated some years ago about the sheer amount of water that flows down the Wharfe. We arrived at Bolton Abbey site following a lot of rain, and it wasn’t far off the bottom of the bridge near the Abbey tearooms. We went back a week later, and it was totally different, huge drop.

I watched the Ceremony as well David, didn't even spill my coffee nor drop a crumb on the carpet
but, like several others, I was hoping and praying nobody tried to make publicity out of it all. The one reason A B M is an ardent Monarchist is the simple one ~~ it ensures that politicians have to bend the knee to somebody, not just the Speaker of the House

Congratulations OP on your Golden Wedding. Ours was in June 2020, during lockdown so we didn’t do anything!! We have just got back from Scotland after celebrating my sister and brother in law’s Golden Wedding Anniversary and my sister’s 70th birthday, it was a lovely time and it was great to catch up with all the family. We had a couple of days in Northumberland on the way back. It was a good break, just rather cold, when is Spring arriving??!! We so enjoyed watching the Coronation, I was only 3 for Queen Elizabeth’s so don’t remember it. It was certainly a spectacular event and meticulously executed, huge congratulations to all the police and forces involved.

I loved everything about the Coronation. I found the service very moving but also a celebration and the procession back to Buckingham Palace from the Abbey was just amazing. The precision of it all must have taken so much work and rehearsal. We do these events so well. My abiding memory of the Coronation in 1953 is of the Queen of Tonga who waved and smiled in an open top carriage in the pouring rain!
Glad you had a good time in Scotland for your family celebration heddlo. I hope it made up for not being to celebrate your own because of lockdown. We celebrated ours in February 2016. Our daughter threw a big party for us with family and friends which was wonderful and then OH and I went off for a holiday in the sun in Tenerife. Not long now until our 60th

We also watched all the Coronation, from about 09.30 till about 13.45.it was indeed spectacular and the armed forces in the processions were excellent.
I felt for Charles, and Camilla, it was a long day for them, and those crowns looked heavy!
Pity the fly past had to be curtailed due to weather. We did not have any rain up here till after it was all over, in fact we even had some sun.

We watched the Coronation as well, we are on the south of France still.
We abandoned the idea of going to Italy as the weather over the lakes is awful, now and for the next 10 days. By that time it will be getting very near the German holidays and it won't leave us with the time to spend as long as we wanted to. Next year it will be then.
The weather here is glorious highs of 28c but a few days it's been more the mid 20s. We might have a shower overnight tonight. The rest of France I believe are to have a few days of rain. Our friends are on Normoutier it's rained everyday at some point since they arrived last Tuesday. Today it never let up and they had a horrendous storm just as the fly past was going over Buckingham Palace. Think we will stay where we are until midweek when hopefully it will have washed through. Either that or we will head to Spain for awhile.

H&T, your Scottish trip sounds like you've had a good break.
Hope you've all had a good day enjoying the celebrations. We've watched it on TV, we are the only Brits on site.

PS Our Irish DIL who is a milliner, had one of her hats worn at the Coronation. It was worn by the wife of one of the Lord Lieutenants of N. Ireland. We are very proud of her

Just had dinner, we celebrated with chicken fillets, air fried with potatoes, Cauliflower and Broccoli, with parsley sauce, and Gruner Veltliner wine. All very good.
Weather here still mild and now dry.
Little Callum was watching the Coronation, and built his own sceptre from magnetic pieces.

I enjoyed watching the coronation, it seemed strangely bright and colourful as my only memories of the previous one were in grainy black and white with the neighbours all piled round the tiny tv and I was only about three feet high myself. Glad that it had been toned down a bit regarding the tiaras and robes. Sent texts to all of our three offspring about watching the coronation and have decided they think we are the last generation to support it, like DK I think the alternative would need a great deal of consideration.
OH and a neighbour went to collect something for our street party tomorrow, one of those boards you stand in front of and have your photo taken...apparently it's covered in plastic flowers and is completely tasteless!
ABM. Talking about the Speaker of the House, Lindsay Hoyle made a special trip to Honiton in Devon to see the Honiton lace being made for the jabot he wore today. A local lady aged 84 was making it for him.
TG sorry the weather has made you change your plans but sounds like you can head in various directions.
If you're out on the streets like us tomorrow have a good time and enjoy the company!
