Glad you sorted the local cows out JK and help from the folk on site.
Many years ago when I did gardening with adults with learning disabilities we had a gardening section separate to our main base and went in the one morning to find a local farmers bullocks had got into the gardening area and they had gone through the two poly tunnels and chewed the strawberries in the one they had good taste and then around the raised beds and had a good munch on the vegetables growing, good job I was brought up on a small holding as my work mates were not keen and said to me you know what to do with them well we did manage to get them into adjoining field and by that time the farmer had come to sort them out and repair the fencing also had quite a lot of cow manure about, missed the staff meeting that morning heyho.

Have only stayed at Chapel once when visiting OH's family in Birmingham and it was useful for the visit.
Glad you had a good trip out around the Pont TG enjoy the rest of your holiday and we hope to get down there sometime in the future.
Had a lot rain yesterday morning with a thunderstorm and more heavy rain last night so everything looking very green with the oak trees coming out in leaf, not see it so green at this time of year.

Thanks InaD. I think there has been quite a bit about problems with cross Pennine rail links, but helpful to get up to date information. It was just an idea at this stage. I used to commute via the East Coast line, which tended to be very reliable, although I am talking a few years ago. It would be early trains out, as late as possible back, so these might very well be “dodgy”. It’s not until you start to look at link ups that you realise just how abysmal and time consuming trying to get to different places by train can be, particularly in Northern England.
The only hitch I had travelling between Doncaster and Edinburgh back in the day was one Sunday, always a dodgy day as it’s when line work tends to be carried out. Train got to Newcastle as usual, then diddly dummed along Tyne Valley to Carlisle, then swung North to get to Edinburgh coming in from West. Put an hour on journey, but a lovely, interesting run. In fact, we did a Hadrian’s Wall tour using a good few of the Tyne valley stations later that year. Newcastle Metro is good as well👍

RK - I think you spoke a bit too soon. Trip home was fine with light traffic but we arrived home to find MiL coughing and spluttering and a covid test administered by OH turned out to be bad news. So first things first, all of the surfaces were "Dettoled" then windows opened and instructions given to MiL about where she could go etc. Fortunately she has her own front room, bedroom and bathroom directly opposite. She's been banned from the kitchen and supplied with a bell for the maid to answer.
As a "just in case scenario" we 2 then hightailed it to Tescos, fully masked up, to fill the food larder. Emptied the caravan and car and then washed the caravan down as it was dirty from the journey.
Really enjoyed the trip away and the company. We are due away again in just over a week so that might be in the balance. Daily testing methinks.

Wherenext, our family were staying with us when we recently contracted covid. We had eaten with them and sat with them but apart from our granddaughter, who had been staying longer and had also been to the hospital, where we think we caught it, surprisingly none of them got it, so you might be ok. Good idea to get the provisions in though. I hope that your MIL is ok and recovers quickly.

My cold is still hanging about so it is a bit of a slow weekend here but we did a bit of gardening this afternoon. It was good to be out in the fresh air.

I think MiL will be OK. She says Friday and Saturday were worse and that she feels a bit better today. She ate what we gave her so that's a good sign. We'll take as many precautions as we can and keep our fingers crossed. Thanks for your comments.

After repairing the bovine damage from Friday night, while I was stapling wire along the new posts (back ache) I found an item of jewellery in the dirt. Going through last years diary I saw that someone had lost a sentimental item last August. A phone call yesterday has resulted in a very happy member soon to be reunited with their jewellery all thanks to an invasion of cows in the fog on a Friday night!

Our last day at Messuage has been rather mixed weather wise with a dry morning but showers in the afternoon and evening. Visited Capesthorpe Hall this afternoon a most impressive building and interesting inside, but more like a museum than others we've seen this week. We would have done the woodland walk but it was rather damp for that. They have a 50 pitch caravan full facility site adjacent to the hall at a very reasonable price should anyone want to stop in the area. Called in to see Marton Chuch on the way back to the van, another place worth a visit if churches are your thing. The first photo is the inside of the Chapel at Capesthorpe.

Good relaxing day today. Was pouring this morning when we got up so spent the morning in the van and then headed out to visit the Anthony Gormely sculptures at Crosby beach surprise at how many there are we had actually went to see them when we were here a couple of years ago but the tide was in and we couldn’t see them so glad we got to see them this time. On our way through Liverpool we were driving alongside the Tottenham team bus on its way to Anfield. When we got back to the site the weather had picked up so we sat out for a while and cooked on the Cadac. This evening was spent watching the snooker glad we watched it at Selby hit a 147 break.

You're welcome ttda; just pure coincidence that I read your post after speaking to my friend about her train trip. Your trip from Doncaster to Edinburgh sounds quite a nice one, despite being an hour late, interesting scenery, and no extra to pay for the extended sightseeing tour
Yes, unfortunately TransPennine Express has had a fair amount of cancellations; my friend did say that the alternative at the time would be an earlier train, but then having to change, and which, when checking it out, wasn't worth it. She was able to alert her friend, who was coming by car to York, well in time, so in the end no big deal, but could be very frustrating if you needed to be somewhere at a specific time.
Anyway, good luck with the planning; BTW, been to Wirral Park many years ago and yes, it's superb for cycling direct from site.

I’ve seen snippets about the snooker on here. I try never to watch it as 1stly it’s not really ‘my thing’ and secondly in my Dads last years he suffered from dementia, he liked the snooker and I cared for him in his home and then sadly when he had to go into a Home. He liked company when he watched the snooker so I sat with him for many many hours, in his living room and the Home watching it. Even so I never really understood it. I read recently that a woman wrote a whole novel that was published while she sat with her Dad while he watched the snooker. It’s nice that others enjoy it so much though.
The women’s rugby has been worth watching, they are a brilliant team.

The last visit was in 2019 peedee, they were longhorn cattle and a couple of vans had a scrape. It's quite interesting looking at a sites history, every "event" out of the ordinary requires a paper trail so plenty to look at.

On your site a few years ago I think someone had a heart attack (or some other emergency incident) my friend and husband were staying on the site and helped the person concerned. What wasn't known was my friend's husband was seriously ill himself and only survived for ten days on reaching home. We met them on their return journey and that was the last time I saw him alive...We were so glad he managed his last holiday there and I think he would have enjoyed hearing your "cow hand" tale!
Do hope the WNS are all ok, sorry to hear Covid has struck and I hope your MIL is doing well. I have a Covid jab tomorrow which means if I react as usual I won't make it to a friend's memorial service this week. I have tried to get the timing right to avoid missing various events. Maybe this time I won't get the usual reaction....
I have some sympathy about the snooker Debsc but unlike your grandfather when OH "watches" he seems to manage to do other things at the same time, like read or tap on his phone so I'll suggest he writes a book too.....

She seems to be a bit better today, enough for her to get dressed, and not so much coughing. We think she's on the mend. Tough, hardy Scottish stock.
We've tested both days and nothing showing so we'll continue with the regime and keep our fingers crossed. We've a lunch date planned for Thursday which we might have to cancel but I've already had to cancel that venue once late on as guests car couldn't be fixed in time to meet us so a bit reluctant to cancel this one.As a result of the covid situation we are using "our" side door to leave the house which hardly ever gets used and normally has lots of caravanning stuff piled against it like our washing machine etc. My goodness, the grime when we looked at the frame. Very embarrassing so I've been giving it a good clean. It definitely needs new beading around the edges which I'll get to do when my hand recovers sufficiently. OH has finished the 3 loads of clothes washing. Drying nicely.
Should be a better day today for you, weather wise, Francis.

Gorgeous day today - drove up to Fewston reservoir and walked the circuit (me & Mrs M once each, Ralph twice!
). Lots of bluebells, primroses and wood anenomes out on the banks. On the way round I was delighted to spot a beautiful golden pheasant down at the water's edge. Think they're quite rare? Yorkshire Water have done a good job of creating a firm path around the reservoir and neighbouring Swinsty (and the car park's free!

We have not been home much since we got back on Friday, so still a lot of holiday washing to do. OH did one load on Friday afternoon as she had a top that she wanted to wear for the party on Sunday, but since then we have been out all day Saturday and most of Sunday. Today was sunny-ish, so 2 loads were washed (bedding and towels) and one dried before the clouds came over.
The party yesterday for DIL's 50th Birthday went very well. Very nice venue and excellent food. The birthday cake, made by DD, was well received too, and delicious.

Gosh they are wonderful KjNN. Your daughter is so talented.
I delivered my god-daughter's birthday present for her 'special' birthday this morning and after that we had a nice afternoon pottering around the garden and enjoying the mild and sunny weather. After a rather damp start the sun came out and it has been a very pleasant day. I have found our bunting so we shall put it up later this week ready for the coronation.
You look as though you have had a good start to your holiday moulesy. Lovely photo.
WN I am pleased to hear that your MIL is feeling a bit better and hope that you and Mrs WN keep well and can enjoy your planned lunch and your next trip away.
PS Even though OH has been watching the snooker all of our married life I have never worked out the scoring system.

Probably before my time here brue but sad none the less. We're in our 3rd year here but in the last 2 years we've had 11 ambulance visits, 3 air ambulance visits, 4 first responder visits and 2 police visits (out of hours). I've been involved in most of those except the police visits. Rounding up cows has proven far less stressful

Steady drive down to Shrewsbury today, with just a slow section on the M6 around Alsager. Managed to select one of pitches we had hope to get. Although rather dull in the morning it has been fine and sunny this afternoon, and warm enough to sit out this evening. The site looks to be just over half full with many of the vans on seasonal pitches occupied. Lovely and quiet at the moment, however there is a rally booked over the Coronation weekend with some units coming on Thursday, but thankfully we will be moving on the Friday. I
WN, well done in getting the van cleaned yesterday, I am impressed!
Looks like a grand walk, Moulesy. Definitely one for us to do sometime.

Excellent day today it had rained overnight but was dry when we got up and has been warm and sunny most of the day. Lots of vans left site this morning so it’s not so busy now but it’s to be full again next weekend. We went to Llandudno today which was great they had a big festival on for the May Day lots of things going on in town classic cars, people in fancy dress, singers and some stalls very pleasant way to spend a few hours we also had a pint outside at the end of the pier first outside pint of the year. Then took a drive up the Great Orme (id forgotten how steep it was) great views there too. Drive back wasn’t the best the road out of Llandudno and quite a few miles along the 55 we’re stop start took us nearly 2 hours to get back to site still it was worth it. Pizza cooked on the Cadac for dinner tonight then we watched the snooker final. Millie - You are not alone I’ve watched the snooker for many years and SWMBO hasn’t a clue about the rules or scoring system hehe. Not sure what our plans are tomorrow will see what the weather is like in the morning
