Arrived at Tranquility base aka Melrose club site. Great journey, site looks full, had a cake in the town. Doesn't get any better.

Never been to Melrose, CS, but it's on my wish list of places to go this year..... (together with Hawes, Southport & Incleboro Fields)....already been to Clumber, White Water Park, Cayton Village & Lady Margaret. .....we have Pembrey, Freshwater New Forest, Winchester Morn Hill, Hunters Moon and Penrhos (on Anglesey) aleeady booked.... fingers crossed that all goes according to plan!! 😀

Arrived at our second home in North Norfolk today. Nice to see Lorna and David again. The site is still in good shape and the price is defo VFM, £18/night which includes a £3/night for electric. Have a plan for tomorrow, first Chosley Barns to hopefully spot 4 x Dotterals then off to Titchwell. Hope the weather improves as today we had a fine misty drizzle. Hope all enjoy their weekend

Another day with Mum……..but a creative one as well. I found a lovely haberdashery shop on our day out to Lincoln, and spotted some silky sheened bias binding. Had a go today at making a semi choker style necklace, using a rare vintage Swarovski dragonfly pendant. Took a bit of thought💡but I was quite pleased with the result. I like experimenting with different things. It keeps me out of mischief as well

Indeed it does Nellie, it's one of two of the same place but taken from different sides. Indeed should I look up to my right I will see a few bits of Mahogany and Brass that I could reassemble into a pre--war camera of Dads should I run out of things to do !!

We're recovering from our short stay in Cornwall. The Bude CL was good, we also managed a few hours in Padstow which we thought had gone down hill but at least it was a quiet day and they were getting ready for the 'Obby 'Oss. We drove past the unrecognisable farmhouse where my Aunty used to live, it used to be sheep and agricultural machinery but now adjoins a big holiday park. We took that route by mistake. The next site at Helligan was very nice, with a good discount for the adjoining gardens if only there hadn't been a deluge on day two we would have had a perfect break! My new black cotton jeans left dye marks on my legs thanks to the weather.
I don't know what keeps a deluge out maybe a black bin bag cut to suit with a pair of wellingtons?! My "waterproof" coat and shoes certainly didn't....

I spent around £4.000 on ops, tests and meds over the last 3 years of my Siberian Husky Xs life and I would often comment to people that they should appreciate the NHS more, as if it cost that much for my dog, how much would it it cost for a human! I gave him YouMove as well, but don't know if it really works or the company are simply very good at marketing it, as I know that as you get older aches and pains etc, come and go, regardless of whether you take supplements or not. I used to take glucosamine and chrondoitin, but when I stopped taking it, there was no difference at all and in my view, as with many supplements, it is simply a very well marketed placebo.

I live in Southport so have never visited the site, but I would think that it is a great site for members as it is right next to the beach, a park and cycle tracks and a very short walk to Morrisons supermarket, the town centre with numerous shops, cafes, restaurants and where you can get a train or buses to Liverpool, etc. I was stationed in Winchester when I was in the WRAC and would love to stay at Morn Hill to revisit the area.

We have only stayed at Southport once and did visit Liverpool from the town. On the road up to Morrisons, on the other side of Victoria Park is a lovely herbaceous border which seems to be maintained by volunteers.

That’s a lovely border😁 Back when I worked in the Leisure industry, Southport had a good reputation for its Parks, Amenities and Leisure Services.
I was looking at the Wirral Club Site for us the other day, as it’s an area we don’t know, and there’s lots to see and do, including some great cycling. I might have to commute as well, but it’s not too bad a journey from Sheffield via trains. Liverpool Lime Street, then what looks like a local service under the river and onwards. Depends on prices🤔

We used the Southport site, we were on the new rather barren, at that time, area. Great location.
We cycled and walked direct from site. Made great use of the train.visited Liverpool, Port Sunlight, Formby - red squirrel territory, Anthony Gormley statues - name escapes me, on various days. At that time you could add the bus onto the train ticket for something like 10p 😱. If I remember rightly, you could go all the way to Chester on a ticket. Very reasonably priced. Sadly we ran out of time.
We walked the gardens, beautiful, the town and the pier plus some of the dunes.
Certainly worth a stop and stay. I believe there's a garden/plant event next door if you time it right. What's not to like?
Taking an hour out, been gardening nonstop for what seems like forever, almost there. Discovered more 3 cornered leek, so need to hack the surrounding plants 😱 🥲 and cover with more black plastic 😡. It started poking out of the edges of the existing and was still - despite lack of light and water pushing up in all areas under the said covered area. So I dolly danced all over it again 😡😡. I'll be arranging pots on the asethically pleasing area for the summer as it appears to take no prisoners and I'm not letting my guard down too early!
Grandson visiting this morning 🌄 😍. Now having his nap. I'd forgotten the energy a 2 year old has. Lovely to hear his vocabulary expanding and stringing together words. We are potty training at present too, so never a dull mo. Might leave the gardening and regular chores until tomorrow.
I've got to have laser treatment on the eye I had cataract removed from. Saw optician on 20th April appointment through, via GP, 5 June. No where does it say if I can drive after, so need to persue that as next day I need to drive to Essex.
Have to say we have landed on our feet GP wise here. Great efficient service. Had an echocardiogram scan last week, guy reckoned my GP had fantastic hearing. Very slight issue but back in 2 years!
OH has shingles jab booked in 2 weeks. Was offered a while ago but he declined it then. He's been seen more, for routine bloods etc and a chest infection in the 13 months we've been here than the 3 years at our previous practice following his heart attack, bypass, stroke and pneumonia........... They didn't see him once! Just carried on prescribing, even though pandemic meant no hospital visits! Still hes still here to tell the tale

Looking at DK's photo it reminded me of our stay at Southport and we thought the Victoria gardens next door were preferable to the site (CAMC centres hold rallies there) and people were staying in the park in much nicer surroundings!
Good to hear you have a reliable surgery near you Bakers2. Sorry you've got to have more eye treatment but hope it improves things.
TDA the Wirral site is very pleasant with a nice country park, seashore and cycle track, a good combination although a bit out of the way for easy food supplies.
After our little break we both headed for the greenhouse and all the seed trays, luckily they had been watered for us but had dried out quickly too. The cold weather has slowed everything up but I detect some warmth in the air today so will grow a few spares and the left overs will go to our local plant sale. We have had a lovely time being members of a gardening club in another village but sadly we are all getting older etc and no replacements for the committee has meant the closure of the club. Hoping to join another club if possible.
Looks like it's snooker all the way this weekend, so OH is engrossed just now...

The site sounds nice B2, but the price is another matter! £32.30 seems the minimum for a HS, for 2, in November. Around £45 peak price.
Now back, yesterday, from our 3 weeks away, left site at 10.15 and took us 2 hours or so to get home. Heavy traffic round Edinburgh and through Glasgow.
Down at DD's today, looking after the boys while she makes the birthday cake for our DIL' s birthday party tomorrow.

We are in our cottage in Addingham after a rather fraught journey yesterday - I'd forgotten what midday Bank holiday motorway traffic was like!
Stopped off at Hardwick Hall for a spot of lunch and to stretch our legs and give the dogs a break.
Woke up this morning to one of my very favourite sounds - a curlew calling in the field opposite the cottage.
Walked with Ralph from the cottage along the Dales Way to Bolton Bridge this morning and then Mrs M did the walk in reverse - got chatting to a couple who used to live just down the road from us in Bradford on Avon - small world!
The view of the river is just round the corner from the cottage, the bluebells are further on in Lob Wood, probably just a week or so before they'll look their best.

Thanks for the comments TDA & David. A trip to Traquair house near Innerleithen. Recommended and forestry motorhome site nearby.
And diesel is cheaper than petrol at Galashiels by one pence at £1.44!
It must have been a mistake but that's what we paid?

We arrived on site early this afternoon dull but quite warm so got the awning up and everything all set up with no issues. Left home yesterday afternoon and stopped off for the night at our usual CL at Longtown then had an easy 2 and half hour tow down here today M6 surprising not too busy but lots of caravans on the road. Had a BBQ tonight and the plan is to spend the rest of the night in the van watching the snooker

We've enjoyed the last 3 days here in mid Cheshire, on a CL with the Nellies for company.
Had a smashing day yesterday visiting Bramall Hall near Stockport, run mostly by the council, and well worth the visit. We were all impressed by what we saw. As NTH took photos I'll let him post them.
We took time out today to visit Little Moreton Hall, not far from the CL. A nice afternoon chat with NTH when we both got back to site. It's been good to get away again and keep improving, doing a bit more each time. Home tomorrow for about 8 nights then off on a longer tour.
Are you at Chester Francis? If so they've now renovated the pub you see just before turning into the site, Rake Hall. Good food, if a bit pricey but always tasty and they try to use local breweries for their beer. Easy to walk there from your pitch. We're there next Thursday for a bite to eat with my cousin and her hubby.

Along with Chapel Lane, Southport is the worst club site we have stopped. OK if you like being on a car park style caravan site, with no views apart from other units, and having a public footpath running across it. Southport as a town is now more rundown than even Morecambe!!

Drove to Uzes this morning then did a bit of fresh food shopping.
This afternoon we decided it would be nice to cycle to the other side of the Pont du Gard. So into Remoulins we cycled to pick up the cycle way. Took us right out into the countryside among the grape vines, then double back to cross the road. Through more countryside and uphill into a medieval village. Then down, down, a very steep hill more countryside and eventually we reached the other bank of the Pont. Big visitor centre on that side and lots of car parks. Had to walk the bikes over the Pont (well some obeyed) then a short cycle back to our campsite. Glad we decided to do it that way round don't think I would have been able to cycle up that road.
Not sure what we will do tomorrow yet but we will find something new to visit.

Evening All
So the role of a site manager continues to be varied and enjoyable. Last evening at around 8pm we were called out on site to sort out some intruders. This time it was quite fun as the occupants of the neighbouring fields decided our grass smelt tasty. Yep, we had a dozen of the beef herd break through their fence and cross the brook then scale the steep hill and trash my fencing to get to our bio diversity area (long grass). They weren't satisfied with that and thought they'd tried my freshly mowed that day grass pitches! It was thick fog which made it a bit surreal but with the help of some campers we managed to herd the cows into our 3/4 acre dog field where the farmer with his excellent dog herded them back down the hill and into their field. We all had a laugh and a quick chat before we went home. It's that camaraderie amongst vanners in times like this that makes what we do such a great role.

Following on from WNs post here a few photos taken at Bramall Hall and one at the church at Siddington which should appeal to tda among others.
As no one has supplied a solution to the other Hall in my previous photos the answer is Rode Hall which has a lovely Bluebell walk and although the house doesn't look so grand from the outside the tour we went on was extremely interesting and informative. It is well worth a visit especially at this time of year.

WN - Yes Chester we have been to the Rake many times previously when staying here and always enjoyed the meals the last time we were here in October 2021 it was closed but a lot of work was going on looking at it today it does look very nice I’m sure we will get there for a drink and meal at some point over the next week.
That snooker match was a marathon tonight 6 hours almost a remarkable comeback too

Just a word of caution ttda, in relation to trains. A friend of mine lives in Liverpool and had arranged to meet with a friend in York last Tuesday. Booked the 9.50 from Liverpool, when she got to the station: cancelled. So had to wait for the next one, 11am. It didn't make too much dfference to her, as she didn't have to be anywhere at a specific time. Although it was annoying having to wait at the station for another hour.
Day after, going home from York, same thing happened. Train due to leave at 2pm: cancelled, so she had to wait until 3pm.
Her impression was that there didn't seem to be many passengers and that that was the reason for the cancellations; she said there weren't that many passengers on the next train, and you'd expect there to be from a cancelled train an hour earier.
Whatever the reason, just bear that in mind, especially if you do have to be somewhere for a specific time.

We stayed at the Southport site a few years ago and pitched up in the old part of the site it was ok a nice week but we wouldn’t rush back to the site itself we prefer the Chester site. We do like Southport town though we find it a pleasant place to walk around for an hour or two and a walk along the pier is always nice. There are a few towns on this side of the country we like to visit Cleveleys and Lytham are two favourites a bit further up the coast. The clubs Chapel Lane site is one we use regularly on our main summer break as a stop over on our way south although we did spend a week there a couple of years ago and found it a good base for exploring the midlands. Not the most picturesque site by any means but we’ve probably been to it 15-20 times over the years and found it ok for our needs although it could be doing with a redevelopment now
