Your second paragraph above entirely misses the point being made by those, like DK, for example, concerning the location and view comparison of the two sites you referred to. The view might not matter to you, but pricing is set for the wider market. It is inevitable that a site on the loch edge, and with one of the best viewpoints in the entire network, will be priced higher than those lacking those advantages.
Prices are not set with your interests in mind.
The differential in this case, assuming your figures are correct, is a lot, I'll agree to that, but whether it is excessive is debateable, particularly as the CCC price is after a concession not available to all.
Personally, I'd choose Bunree every time. I first went there in 1987 and have always thought of it as my all time favourite site, despite those pesky, but necessary, traffic lights which you begin to think will never change! North Ledaig is nice too, but Bunree is better.

I have just booked a stay at the Cambridge C&CC site £15.80 per night cheaper, yes £15.80 per night difference than the Cherry Hinton site just three miles away! This is comparing like with like, hardstanding with 16 amp EHU. Even removing the over 60 discount there is still a huge difference. I have stayed on both sites before at varies times and if you know both, it is very hard to understand this difference? If I had used a grass without electric pitch at the C&CC site the saving would have been a massive £24.9 per night but with wet weather in the forcast I considered that too risky. I also looked at a nearby commercial site price, a bit further out from Cambridge centre, hardstanding 10 amp EHU, £26 per night so still a huge difference of £15+ per night but not so convenient.
At these differences the C&MC stands no chance of obtaining my patronage this year.

There is a huge difference when we are visiting as well, £9.80 on a two night stay if I remove the over 60’s discount to give a fair comparison. Not been before, but we don’t like Cherry Hinton, it is the only CAMC site we have visited that we wouldn’t go back to. There appears to be a regular bus into town, so it should suffice just as well.

Obviously "Never Knowingly Undersold" doesn't apply!!! We like the C&CC Cambridge site as its more open and level. Access into town by bus not quite as good as Cherry Hinton although perfectly adequate and nowhere locally to walk to eat except a rather nice Garden Centre. However at that price difference if would certainly persuade me in favour of the C&CC site.

I have just booked 2 weeks at the C&CC site at Dartmouth in September and at £26 per night (with ACR), it seems very reasonable. We usually stop off at Broadway for a couple of nights - going out and coming back but at £44 per night, I looked for alternatives. We will be staying at the C&CC site at Blackmore instead (which is a nice site - we have stayed there before) and it's half the price of Broadway. Looks like this club, won't be getting any business from us this year.

It does of course depend where you want to be, especially with a MH. Blackmore is certainly a substitute for Malvern Hills and we actually prefer it. However, for us preferring to leave the MH on site, it certainly can’t substitute for Broadway.
The club certainly don’t seem to have any problems filling flagship sites like Chatsworth, even with high prices and deposits. November is already approximately 60% full on all pitch types with still 7 months to go. There are certainly cheaper options, but none as convenient for just walking into the estate through the gate in the wall.

Steve, how do you know Chatsworth pitches are nearly 60% full in November? All I could see was the odd day had “low” on it. 🤔 I could have been looking in wrong place, not sure.
There’s a strange one day anomaly on the pricing in August as well, unless Club have put a special BH price on pitches for that weekend, again, seems to be around £5 higher than other dates. Could by DP I suppose🤷♀️

Why doesn't the club insist that CLs have the relevant price information on their webpage? This site is still showing their price from 2016. I know you are advised of the current price when making a booking but leaving old out of date prices seems the norm for CLs.

It has 16 days showing full on standard pitches and 10 lows? On SP it's full on 17 days and only one day when it's not low. Super SP is about the ae. Were you looking at non awning pitches?

I don't disagree with you Steve - but since we are only looking for a 'stopover' to break the journey between Devon and East Yorkshire, I'm reluctant to pay £44 per night for the privilege - especially since we don't use the 'facilities'.

Just some info when dates on the web say "low". I think it's been mentioned on here before somewhere that the perception of "low" means 5 pitches left? I maybe wrong? Anyway "low" is site specific and doesn't necessarily mean 5 pitches, some sites go low on more, some less. Just thought I'd throw that in

I can see the point on having a lower figure (less than 5) for service pitches, where there might only be 8 or 10 in total. Or for sites where they only have a few non awning. However, for the rest 5 would seem a reasonable figure. If it is site specific it really needs detailing on the booking page otherwise they might as well stop using it. It smacks very much of the DFS sale ending soon, when they always have a sale scenario.

“If you don’t buy now……..”Note I say almost, as subliminal marketing is actually banned in the UK. But it’s misleading at the very least. The previous late availability, unless I am mistaken, actually enumerated the number of types of pitches remaining?
