Mayday breakdown service

We hit a boulder in the road and lost our front nearside tyre. I tried to fit the spare but it is a space saver that has to be inflated and it wouldn't inflate. I contacted Green Flag at 21.50. Nobody turned up ever. I contacted Green Flag every hour and was told they would be with us in the hour. It never happened. At 3.30am the following morning I made the decision to drive 2 miles to my brother's house on the flat tyre.

You need to lodge an official complaint and contact camc.

+1, on the upside Lawson will have the proof of calls in his phone records. Plus I’d expect money back because he entered a contract & paid for it but GF have broken that contract & saved money🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep, spot on👍🏻. I’d think compensation for a ruined tyre might be in order too.

I've posted a letter of complaint to Green Flag (as advised by camc). I'll update when I get a reply

Green Flag have just been on the phone to me.

They apologised for the poor service and communication provided by their contractor Egertons Recovery of Manchester and offered £75 compensation. I accepted.

Ombudsman service is the last resort it’s not a cudgel to threaten with. Yes I have been thru it & no it wasn’t easy nor was it quick, nor was it super profitable that is just fantasy.

I have been doing some research into the AA and RAC recovery services. From what I can make out (because it is not at all clear) if you call upon the services of these two organisations while towing a caravan they will attend to your broken down vehicle and move the caravan 'to a safe place' if necessary. This is much less of a service than Mayday offer for caravanners.

Take a look at RAC's Arrival. It’s pretty much the same as Mayday.

Any idea on how to work out a price as you obviously need to join the C&CC to get this cover.

    C&CC joining fee ?

Arrival cover premium for one vehicle ?

European cover top up for 30 days?

Compensation is all very well, but the real point is that Mayday cannot be relied upon.  The whole point about breakdown cover is that it is there when you need it.  The Club markets the Mayday service very heavily - maybe it should be looking for another provider?
