Blackpool advice needed please.

We have a motorhome which we normally don't take out from the site once we have pitched up preferring to walk or catch the bus/train for any trips.

In Easter 2023, we are going to Blackpool for the first time and would appreciated any advice on how easy and quick it is to walk to the main promenade from the Blackpool south site and any specific recommendations for things to do and places to eat while in the main promenade area.  Also, if we wanted to go on a couple of day trips on the bus, what other towns are not too far away that are worth a visit. Is it easy to get to a main bus stop or train station from the site.

Myself and my wife are in our 50's so clubbing or high energy thrill seeking are no longer on the agenda. Something a bit more sedate for us oldies.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I think you will need a bus or taxi to reach the prom - I would. Check Google Earth to see the way👍🏻. 

    We took our MH from the site to the prom with no issues.

    According to Google Maps it's about 3 miles to the South Pier. When we stayed at the site they had a very good arrangement with local taxi companies which offered fixed fare trips to various parts of Blackpool. Probable the nearest is the Pleasure Beach as you can then walk along the prom to the Tower and beyond. If you need a taxi back there is a Taxi Rank around the back of the Tower and there wasn't much difference in cost between the normal fare and the fixed rate.

    I can asure you that in 15 -20 years that you won't consider anyone in their 50s as old. laughing

    Regarding other destinations -  Lytham and St Annes to the South  (might be easier using the MH) and Fleetwood to the North (using the tram).

    Blackpool has much to offer  those in their 50's - it's the destination of choice for my daughter and son-in-law, both 50+. It's place to go for cocktails, curries, bars etc (according to the photographs). And amazing sunsets and a vast promenade for the early morning 5 k run.

    As others have said it's a bit of a trek to the prom but once there the tram is a good way to get up and down the seafront and to go as far north as Fleetwood. The place has seen better days admittedly but worth it for the tram ride and there is a small outlet shopping centre under the Affinity banner near an Asda store.  Foodwise there's lots of everything in Blackpool, but if you want top notch decent fish and chips you must try Yorkshire Fisheries on Topping Street one of if not the best in my humble opinion and that of many others.

    We love Blackpool and visit regularly. The club site is a bit of a distance from the main promenade so as DK suggested a taxi may be a good option. For nearby towns we love Cleveleys which is about 5 miles along the coast from Blackpool it’s for a lovely prom and is a nice little town to wander around. St Anne’s and Lytham are also close by and nice places to visit.
