50% OFF midweek discounts

I can only agree, but you do need to read the "small print"! Never expect CAMC to give anything for nothing.
The offers are so restrictive that few members will be able to benefit from them. Smoke and mirrors come to mind.
We are also members of the other club, their offers are a bit easier to understand, we use them as much as we can, plus we use a lot of CLs.

I , or rather OH , looked at booking Sutton on Sea for June. For 2 of us for 4 nights it was £140 odds, for adding a child over 5, it falls to £130 odds.
Why should we (OAPs) pay more for 2 people than 2+ a child?
What way is that to treat (mainly) long standing members on a limited income?

I did a bit of trial booking for Balbirne site and worked it out. The saving over 3 days was £14.25. When I broke it down the pitch fee would have been £9.50 and an adult £8.20 so 50% off pitch fee was £4.75.
TG, I tried a similar booking on my Kindle but there was no discount included in the final price, so now it seems to get a discount one has to book using a computer or possibly an iPad.
The whole thing is joke!! As others have said it is just a con, to extract extra funds way before arriving at a site.

No email for me although I am opted in!! Perhaps they know that the offer is that poor that I for one won't be taking it up.

However while it is in term time the discount is available all days of the week and can start on any day and only a two night minimum is needed so it will be worth it for families at weekends and Hillhead would be a good saving?
Whilst your statement is certainly factual I not sure how practical it will be for many. We live fairly central and the closest site to us is 70 miles away and because of the roads well over two hours, the rest are over 3 hours away. Even with price decreases fuel price is a major factor and we haven’t had the budget yet.

We received the email yesterday. More restrictive than previously, as already pointed out. Book by 2nd of May, minimum of 3 nights, and only available on a minority of sites.
Had a "play around" with prices for 1 site and agree that fees are not clear. Worked out that the saving per night was £6.30 for December at Meathop, but there is no clear breakdown of price per person and price per pitch.. Who knows wether the "system" can work out the correct discount, after all the "glitches" encountered since the launch of the new system

I find it interesting that when I touch on the site names on the offer page, it takes me to the old site pages rather than the new booking system. However when I select book a touring pitch it doesn’t take me straight to availability but to the same information on the new booking system.🤔

Forgive my chuckling at your post Steve but it reads as if you're clutching at straws in order to find a negative point🤪🤪.
Not everyone lives 70 miles from a participating site and the discount could be seen as a way of helping folk in this era of rising costs. Glass half full, eh? 👍

That bit works OK for me. I notice that the main front pages of the website have changed and the "booking experience" bit has been relegated to the deprhs so feedback is harder to find.
I think CAMC have made an error of judgement in offering family discounts outwith school holidays.
However the general benefits to all are low so it's a non event for me on a personal level.

Oooo, I have a long list🤣
Openness, transparency, good communications, that sort of thing for starters……..😁

Well it’s certainly negative for those that do live so far away. I agree for many it will work out well. However, due to the low number of sites and there dispersal, there will be a significant number of families that will find it impractical to use them for a weekend. Perhaps one or two more sites up the middle of the country would have helped.
A question, do you actually have to turn up with a child to qualify. When I checked the saving was £ 5 / 6 a night on the cost of just two adults. So a phantom child would save you quite a bit on a weeks stay.🤔

There's a thought!
Can you get blow up dummy kiddies?🤣🤣

Hang on a minute, if I put in travelling with a child, the whole stay is discounted?🤔
💡💡 There’s an idea coming to mind……🤣🤣🤣

Nah Steve, that’ll by the dynamic pricing. It’s all like plaiting fog……😉🤣

That is about what OH worked out .......£2.50 per night in June.
Interestingly, the child offer continues till mid July........a 3 week window of opportunity for Scottish parents as schools here break up for summer on 23rd June in our area.

NTH, I did the dummy booking on my phone, the final page gave me the breakdown and the 50% midweek discount.
Like brue I did a search for pitch and 1 person, saw the price on the calendar. Then did a search for pitch and 2 people. Noted the difference in price, from there you can find out how much each person cost is and what the pitch fee is. Bit of a faff more transparency is required re a base price list.
Don't think this offer is a very helpful one for the majority of members. Why not reduce the pitch price for these sites on offer across the board then oldies and families would all benefit rather than just a few.

For us, we have taken on "grandparent duties" so have to negotiate "time off" with the other grandparents, so we do need to plan ahead a bit. It also means we are away more than before in school holidays, when sites get booked up earlier, so earlier trip planning is required.
Just booked 2 weeks ago for April, and now planning and booking for June/July.
I have been on a waiting list for a small, non essential, op for over a year now, waiting time back then was given as 18 months, so possibly will get a date in June/July, which hopefully I can change if necessary. I have no idea how much notice of the date I might get.
It will only involve a one night stay in hospital, but apparently I should not drive for 2 weeks afterwards.....and OH does not tow.
