Got it first time JK.  Clumber Park....  It's inside the new toilet block°  I don't normally take photos of the inside of ta toilet block, but it looked quite different to normal.  Apparently, a few, of the new toilet blocks have these large photo murals!

They look good David! The club asked for some local photos for the Steamer Quay refurbishment,  it will be interesting to see the results.smile

I just wondered what people think of the murals in the new toilet blocks? Morn Hill has them and I am not sure I like them. Nothing wrong with the photographs I should add but I always think that toilet blocks should be light and airy but these murals tend to make the buildings look dark.

I rather liked them, a distinct improvement on plain tiled or painted walls

We stayed at Clumber just after it re opened, I liked the murals, some great photos. Didn’t like the strange signage much, and the new routine for closing down half of the facilities for cleaning wasn’t yet in use, but a vast improvement if it is now in use. Anything is better than the same bland facility interiors across all sites in my opinion. Fixtures and fittings inside were good as well👍

DSB, I think the photos in the other block are different to those you have posted, I will try and find my photos.🤔

Here’s the photo I took, rather clever to have the path stretching away in distance, gives the impression of space….

I agree TTDA, I think the murals/ photos are great, far better than glorious magnoliayell Each site will have different ones. The bonus for us is there will be hardly any decorating to dowink

I didn't see the other block, TTDA.  It was closed this week - I guess because there were only a small number on site...  I liked the photos.... better than bland magnolia.  Loved your photo....

Definitely one of the Club’s better ideas👍 I do like it when a site reflects the local area, otherwise you could to an extent be anywhere really, so many of the Club’s sites are to a similar pattern. I would like to see greater use of local minerals for topping hardstanding pitches, anything other than the horrible limestone stuff such as at YRP.  I suppose it’s expense though that dictates some things. But the photos are a “trompe”👍🤣

Just found this thread again!!  We're here at the moment   Not the usual sort of site we go for.... not a serviced pitch in sight!!  Just here for a few nights, before moving on to a more familiar place ......  Anyone know where?..... 😀

There are one or two vehicles that look as if they are here pemanently.  Lots of spare pitches, but this may be because it's not a 'normal' CAMC site.  For us, it's a useful stop-over, but I can see the attraction for many.  We decided between here and Putts Corner.  We've been to Putts Corner quite a few times, so we thought we'd have a change.  The site could do with 'upgrading', tbh, but, given that the Club have given up on Uttoxeter Racecourse, it makes me wonder about the future of the racecourse sites.

If you’re happy with a non-facility site, David, I recommend the Stover site just a little further west on the A38 as an alternative. It’s a lovely spot.

I certainly hope that the Club are not thinking of pulling out of using them.   I have stayed at Thirsk and very recently at Warwick and Cheltenham racecourses.  I really liked the Warwick site as it has a large, attractive park next door and is a short walk into town and to the bus station.

Cheltenham racecourse was OK and a very reasonable price, but badly needed the grass cutting.  Rather ironic really in view of the amount of grass on the very large raccourse, all of which was cut very short!

I've wondered about Stover, TW..... we went for the Racecourse as it's closer to Exeter.  I don't mind 'non-facility' sites....  A great non-facility site is Englethwaite Hall.  The difference is that Englethwaite has serviced pitches, but Stover hasn't. 🙂

We love Exeter Racecourse Site, it’s a brilliant location for getting out and about in all directions, and there’s lots to see and do. I held the fastest cycle around the racecourse on Strava for a while, but haven’t been able to get down and defend my title🚴‍♂️🤣 Have a lovely time, most envious😁

I agree about the location, TTDA, but I do think the site could do with a refurb,/rethink!.. Lots of potholes in the roads; 2 x chemical disposal points out of order (--- everyone had to use the point near the motorhome emptying point);  the Service Points are only really places to fill up water - only one waste-water emptying point.  Poor system for late arrivals... If the gate is locked you have to leave the car and caravan at the gate, walk up to reception, collect the information sheet pinned to the door and walk all the way back to the car!   If you are less good at walking, it's a bit of a treck... and if you are a solo caravanner, your van and car could be left at the gate for 10 minutes or so while you do the walk.  Agree with the location though... 😀

....anyway, we moved from Exeter on Sunday to here.. .  Might not be difficult to recognise, but a bit of an awkward angle.  Photo taken from  the front of the caravan (pitch 5).....

I think the Club have only been in partnership with racecourse for around three decades, so there’s still time for improvements🤣 Seriously though, we rather got the impression it was always a stand off between Club and whoever runs racecourse, both unwilling to pay out money. We tend to go into the enclosed heathland area rather than up on the HS pitches by the loos, has the feel of a very big CL. It’s a lovely location when the weather is good, but doesn’t half get the wind and rain at times.

Is your next site Looe? Only guessing, we have only ever used Marazion down in Cornwall, although we do know St Agnes and Godrevy. Stayed on Carnon Downs once, back around 1986. It was ok for a night, but we wouldn’t go back🤣

Kind regards to all I might have missed these last few days, Millie, Debsc……..

...we didn't venture to the enclosed bit, to be honest.  I tend to go for 'open pitches' generally, to avoid tree sap and other tree stuff on the roof of the caravan - besides, we'd already booked a hardstanding.  It looked nice and cosy from a distance....

Not Looe, I'm afraid... we went in a different direction from Exeter...  I'll leave it open for a bit....

I was going by the buildings and double barrier, not something the Club builds?

I know where the Silent Woman is, last time I was down that way I stayed at Wareham Forest but I don't think I have been to that site.

There’s another Silent Woman near Tavistock but this one is Hunters Moon. Personally, I much preferred the private site across the road but the location is good.

    Yes... it's Hunter's Moon. Wareham.  👍👍

We've stayed at Wareham Forest before, but not at Birchwood.  Wareham Forest is a nice site with a pool.  I remember we had a Serviced Pitch (..what a surprise..!!! )🤣🤣.  The Chemical Disposal point was a long way from our pitch - I put the toilet cassette in the car and drove down!! 🤣🤣

I'll put a other photo up next week (Mon or Tues), when we get go our next site... a lo g way from this one.....

It was Birchwood we stayed at twice. Some of the pitches are fully serviced with their own CDP. Their WiFi worked too😀
