We have a Mitsubishi Outlander diesel on a 66 plate and we are thinking of upgrading any recommendations please. We were thinking of getting a hibrid but have been warned against it

Have you thought about an Outlander PHEV, can tow up to 1500 kg, several members of the Facebook group - Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Uk - give good reveiws and information. We have one but dont tow as we also have a motorhome.

There are a few threads about the Outlander PHEV on here.

If I remember correctly, I think Mitsubishi are withdrawing from the UK which might raise a question over the availability of spares in future.

Mitsubishi withdrew from the UK market over 2 years ago….. the Outlander PHEV is pretty old tech by now and has been replaced in other markets. If you can manage with a 1500kg tow weight limit then look at a RAV4 PHEV, mine tows as strong, fast, stable and economically as any diesel tow car I ever had. Over 50 mpg solo and high 20’s towing. One of the very best cars in 45 years and over 60 variants of car ownership.

Totally agree the RAV4 PHEV is one of the best PHEV currently on the UK market, however, my local Toyota informed there is quite a long waiting list and will keep me informed

The order book is currently closed - 2023 supply is sold out however you might be lucky and get a cancelled order offered. Otherwise it is searching for used or the rare chance of a dealer who has one ordered for stock.

Supply and demand is push the RAV4 through the roof, I had a look at the new Nissan X Trail E4Force the other day, unfortunately it is only a Hybrid.

However the Suzuki Across version of the RAV4 PHEV is available with very short delivery times. It is exactly the same as the RAV save for some very minor trim changes and a different (better looking IMO) grille.

Maybe but that doesn’t impact on the car, it is still in effect a RAV PHEV. Find another! If there is a Colin Appleyards chain, try them. Personally doesn’t bother me if the dealer isn’t local, happy to travel to get price/deal and customer service.
Another option for the OP if funds allow is the new Mazda CX60 PHEV.
