RedKite my latest photo is Thomas Oken's House in Warwick...I can only see it on my laptop and not on my Android phone (even though I changed it via my phone which previously I couldn't do, all a bit strange.) I don't have any gaps appearing when I post so I think B2 has a different set up, I have a Galaxy too.
TDA hope you enjoyed your stop over, we used to live in that area and still have family nearby.

Yes that is the method my sisters supplier does. We are with Shell, I don't mind being a bit in credit but when it gets to much I'd rather have in my bank than theirs.
We have cut our usage by half on the electric, I think the biggest part of that was turning off the underfloor heating in the bathroom. As there is a heated towel radiator in there the room is still warm enough.
Our LPG has gone down a bit to, we have turned the thermostat down during the day and even a couple of degrees during the evening. I've also set the timer to switch it off 90 mins before we go to bed. The house retains the heat well so why not.
I've also hung my thicker curtains back up in the lounge and dining room. I tuck the lounge window ones behind the radiator in the evenings and close the double doors between the lounge and dining room. Makes a lot of difference. I think we had got lazy and soft over the years.
Our LPG tank will need a fill soon, probably be around the £400 mark. I think with us being away in Oct and Nov it has help a lot with LPG usage.

I had a senior moment today, breakfast poured the cereal, got out a tumbler for OJ, made a mug of tea then poured the orange juice on the cereal then milk in the tumbler, tea was ok though! Do you think it's my mid life crisis?
Went out to check on Caravan, all ok.

tda That sounds a really good day out to Wentworth Woodhouse. I love the book Black Diamonds. I originally got it out of the library but then bought my own copy. It is one of those books that I will always keep. We like Upton House. Glad you have had a good few days off from caring duties. I hope you have gone home feeling refreshed.
Yes bakers2 a bit of a change in the weather here. It is warmer (or less cold) but grey and mizzly and now muddy underfoot.
nellie I hope Flyte is fully recovered now. It is always a worry when they are ill. Glad to hear that you and your OH are getting better.
I spent all day at the Cathedral yesterday. On the Welcome desk in the morning, a quick dash into M&S for a snack lunch and then back for a Welcomers meeting. It was held in the Infirmerer's Hall a lovely building which is joined on/part of the Dean's house so he nipped next door to make us all a cup of tea and then his 2 lovely cats decided to join us! It was a good meeting as we all had an opportunity to put forward our points of view about any changes and shared experiences with each other.
Visited a friend this morning that I hadn't seen since before the pandemic for various reasons. It was so good to catch up with her as we have known each other for over 50 years.

Brue I can now see your timbered house on my samsung tablet but butterfly on my phone. The tablet is a couple of years old. Done nothing to either! Glad you identified the building as it was familiar but I couldn't place it.
Milliehull I think it feels as cold, if not colder despite what the thermometer says..... fog came down mid morning, but we went to Huntington early afternoon worse that wau, but rained so cleared fog - still murky. No workmen today, but at least I had a text soon after 0700, and I fear a real mudbath fest is coming.....

Robsail, my OH made lunch for us both, as usual, but my tea, he had something else, looked dreadful. It was mint tea with milk. Please remember you're not alone in 'silly' placings 🤣🤣
General, our rebates have been removed from our utility bill. However, I missed - I dislike intensely online bills, were having paper ones from next month!, that our has bill was estimated for last 6 months, smart meter not working. Even worse it's just a blank screen, a meter reader called today and he couldn't make anything appear 🥲🤐. I took a reading, stored in an unknown safe place 😉, when the new boiler was fitted in September. We await developments. I'm not holding my breath.
I'm using my tablet now no unstable cursor or big gaps.
Trip to Huntingdon successful, if expensive, new cooker purchased delivery and fitting tomorrow. Very impressed with independent shop. The one in the house when we moved in has very fierce oven, 30c higher than dial..... Made the decision to jump and buy another after much trying to manage and research. Narrowed it down to 2. Impressed OH picked the slightly more expensive one - 😅. Be nice to return to an induction hob as I haven't mastered the ceramic hob...... No pockets in a shroud 🤣🤣🤣

We were supposed to pick youngest granddaughter up from swimming this evening and take her home as our daughter has an evening class at the college. We have been ‘stood down’ though as she has a bad cold and not a good idea for her to go swimming today.
Strange and unpleasant smell in our garage, so I donned a big coat and washed out all the fridge, not as grubby as I thought. Still strange smell, I checked out the potatoes stored in there in case one had gone slimy, all fine, checked the stored apples from our tree, fine. Ended up tidying all the shelves, chucked some bits out, all neat and tidy - for a garage, still that smell. Mentioned to OH what I’d done. A while later he came in holding a torch and a defrosted packet of fish! It had fallen down between the chest freezer and the wall, must have been when I was rummaging in the freezer for something, phew it whiffed. Ah well, I’ve been meaning to do those jobs in the garage for a while.

Yes you are right we use Low Moor Head on a regular basis. Each time we have been we have just paid the usual nightly fee and have never been asked for any money on top for the electric so the allowance must be quite a lot. We use a lot of electric when away and it’s never cut off at that site so you should be fine. It’s a great little site I highly recommend it it’s nice and quiet and the owner is very friendly and helpful. If you give her a call you can ask her about the elastic situation but it’s never caused us a problem

Glad you are improving WN and hope your meeting with the medic goes well and that you had a good trip to RSPB reserve, wish me luck I am going to a local LPO meeting re biodiversity for the Commune of Lalbenque on Sunday as it looks interesting so OH will be coming his French better than mine, as I do not belong to the RSPB anymore OH gave a birthday treat for membership of the LPO which is turning out to be quite interesting they do not have the clout like RSPB have but are doing more protection for wildlife.
RK, hope you enjoy your LPO membership. You are right when you say they don't have the same clout as RSPB but they are facing an uphill battle due to the influence of the gun lobby in France. Good luck to them. We've visited several of their Reserves and projects and they have good intentions. There is a very good one on Baie de Somme. Can't remember exactly where but we enjoyed it, although they do have some funny ideas of viewing slots in "hides". The talk sounds very technical, pity its doesn't have subtitles.

Francis, your XC60 sounds like a real bargain. Hope you get lots of troublefree towing from it.
It's good to read everyones news, and the tales of saving cash by lowering the amount of electric being used. We have a credit of about £400 at the moment, nowhere near that accrued by Kjell, but our DD is just under £12 pm!!
OH has her second visit to the dentist, and along with having a tooth extracted she had a couple of others filled too. Next visit is early next week. Off to the opticians tomorrow, boy do we have fun when we come home from our trips!!😄

Beautiful day again today, lots of sunshine 😊 a little colder than yesterday as we had light frost overnight. Should be warmer this afternoon.
Going to Dundee this afternoon to look around the furniture shops. 😲
NTH, our electricity DD is quite low but as low as yours. I guess with the amount of time you are away it's mainly the standing charge that costs.
We managed 154 nights away in 2022, not as impressive as your record but not shabby by any means. I wonder how we will do this year.

I find the buit in sat nav useless - it reminds of the old fashioned childrens typewriters as you have to spin a dial to find a letter to spell out the destination. We still use a tom tom placed on the dash as it is much easier to see, input and use.
What the built in sat nav is good at is to find "points of interest near the car" which is great for locating the nearest supermarkets etc.
I do still find it amazing how the car actually reads the speed limit signs and displays the current one. OK, it can occasionally be fooled by a speed limit for a side road where the sign is facing towards the main road but on the whole it is faultless.
Currently trying to shake off the effects of our first Covid encounter, I am now on Day 6 and the legs feel like rubber. I fear that tennis will have to wait for at least another week. OH is a few days behind in her recovery. Luckily, we had arrived home, from our recent jaunt to the CCC site at Bowness, before the illness arrived.

No sun here but we have reached 2C today and can see further in the distance than yesterday, topped up the bird feeders again, OH trying to repair our coffee machine and got a new washer for it put it in and still had a leak so found it was the water container now all done.

I thought it was just me who's not overly impressed with inbuilt satnav. Only on our first, but it does get us there or thereabouts. Ours is touchscreen, if you touch it correctly 😉 and takes a good while to respond. But better than this site 😉😉.
But I'm fascinated by by the car dash info giving the appropriate speed limit. I ponder being caught speeding and you claim being unaware!
Cooker delivered and fitted, instructions to be read and digested. Floor covering chap arrived, at his booked time, whilst they were fitting. Typical isn't it? Booked to have bathroom floor tiles screed and posh lino, will need to have the entrance door and 2 cupboard doors shortened a tad. With our EV everything is computerised and when we use the satnav it all works well. Probably even better on the latest versions but all new vehicles can seem quite a challenge at first!
Looking at energy usage comments I guess if you are away a lot you are still paying something out so it probably evens out. All our credit is gone now on the last hefty quarter but that's the way it works best.
OH took the motorhome in for it's MOT, all ok, we hadn't used it for a while so it sounded a bit creaky on take off....will try and get a short break soon. But first we have the local pantomime, oh yes we do...

Sorry to hear you have COVID Mikey, hope you get over it soon. I was lucky, no signs or symptoms at all.
We got back last night from our little jaunt. Horrible drive back, but we survived. Great overnight stop with MH at the pub in Gaydon village, food was superb. The village itself is very nice. Short hop to National Motor Museum, where MR Petrol head had a full on indulge🤣 I swerved the second hall, but did get to see my all time favourite caravan in the main museum. Food in Museum is very disappointing though, we decided to eat in MH between halls. Bike looks an absolute bargain buy for me. Lady owner had completed Le Jog on it, so it’s got a pedigree. Just need a new saddle, pedals, bit of tinkering on set up, then will do a test ride.

As I mentioned above, I love very old caravans, find them so ingenious in the way they utilise space, and have all sorts of fantastic practical things inside. This is the one inside the Motoring Museum, a Winchester. It’s quite big, and the museum have the complete history, which I think dates from the 1930’s. It was used by a Jewish refugee family during the War as their safe home after arriving in GB. It’s been renovated as well.

Lovely TDA! There is a beautiful Romany caravan in Bristol Museum, so interesting to see these old vans.
Very pleased to hear WN is now off the list, hope you continue making good progress and at this rate of gaps it will soon be one post per page.
The ice has taken it's toll this week a neighbour has fallen and broken his wrist. Our daughter's partner did good deeds getting the ice off a neighbour's path then went back home and fell over the vacuum cleaner, result a badly sprained ankle....

Where do all the years go?
I had a lovely surprise visit from one of my ex pupils today, haven't seen her for more than 10 years although we've kept in touch exchanging birthday and Christmas cards. Came to wish me a happy birthday for last week. 30 next year and on the board of a PR company now and brought her mum who used to work as a teaching assistant with Mrs M. Had a great time reminiscing (including the time I locked her in a cupboard - couldn't get away with that these days!
) and getting the news of what all the rest of the group were up to these days - she does Facebook so knows it all, I struggled to remember one or two of the names - it's an age thing, so I'm told! 6 -
Thank you all for your best wishes, they are much appreciated. We feel fortunate to have lasted so long before catching Covid and at the same time surprised we did finally catch it.
Very glad that we are able to convalesce in our own house, as it would have been far more problematic if it had occurred in Australia - especially as son and his girlfriend were working from home.

I know where we picked it up, we were helping care for Mum in hospital. After over two years of dodging it, being very careful, it was odds on we would get in being in the hospital day after day. Mum and I were fine, my sister had a bit of a cough. OH never got it at all, thank goodness. But boy, did we say a huge thank you to all those scientists and health experts who came up with the vaccines.
We had a huge bonus today as well. Following major surgery last Summer, OH’s latest scans and blood tests have come up completely clear. Such a relief🤩🥳

Cooker fitted beautifully, all pre-use procedures followed. Good job I'd not planned anything for dinner, each oven had to be on separately for over an hour each st 250c 😱😱. Various interruptions meant I didn't start until getting in for 5pm. We settled for soup and toast and egg on toast. Induction hob much improved on our previous one fitted in last house 11 years ago - most impressed. We did have apple and blackberry pie and custard, so weren't so hard done by. I'm out tomorrow, so will be a smash and grab dinner again.
3 guys working today, site looking much tidier and quick a lot of bricks laid in the retaining wall. Drive seems to be covered in bigger heap of sand and some slabs have arrived. Both raised beds fully filled and now covered with weed suppressant cloth. I think we're getting somewhere.
Edit, I'm using my Samsung tablet, older than my Samsung phone- but fully up-to-date. Been logged in since first post, lunchtime ish, and no wobbly cursor or jumping gaps!

Good to read that the groundwork is coming along nicely, B2, and that your new cooker is successfully installed.
TG, it will be interesting to see what the next readings are for our fuel used, as we have been home two weeks now with the heating on in the house. Hopefully we will still be well in credit until we head off again.
OH's eye test was very little change so no need for new glasses this time round. However she has to return in 12 mths time for a further test, so I guess we both will be needing new glasses by then. A second dry day today and hopefully tomorrow will be similar and I can get the outside of the van cleaned.
