Rollerteam Zefiro 665
Hi, we are interested in the Zefiro Rollerteam 665 and would be interested in other motorhome's experiences as there seems to be contradictory advise from dealers. The engine is a Ford automatic 130bhp, but this can be upgraded to 170bhp at a cost. Does anyone have any views as to whether the 130 would be sufficient with a full pay load, or is it necessary to upgrade?

You haven’t said what weight the van is fully loaded but my initial thought is that the 170 would be a better bet. Whether it’s necessary, only you can decide.

The Bailey Adamo range is based on the Ford chassis and they all have auto boxes and they use the 160 hp engine. I would be inclined towards the larger engine, especially if touring in more challenging geography.

Yes, the MTPLM would be 3500 which is not a huge weight in MH terms but, personally, I like a decent amount of power. You really need to test drive in order to make up your mind.

The 170 engine would be a better bet. For a four berth motorhome, or even as a two berth, the payload is a bit sparse. I'd be surprised if you could run it at 3500Kg when loaded with all your kit. By the time you add in a couple of gas bottles, Hab battery(?), water, full tank of fuel, you won't have much left.

The payload does seem rather low. Ours was considerably more than that and we still have to be careful. It will depend on what it includes however. Is it the specific payload for the model / spec you are buying. Or as is often the case the base model of the range, without any of the bells and whistles. For instance additions such as a spare wheel (very heavy) solar panels and sat dish will form part of that payload. Even such things as the metallic paint on ours is an addition, as it’s heavier than the standard stuff.
