If you have the site directory look at page 32 onwards and it list sites by areas and shows which sites have no toilet blocks but be aware that Marazion is not open anymore and High Onn not open for 2023 season so only about 22 sites with toilet blocks hope this helps.

Bourton-on-the-water, not one of the cheapest, is £23.20 at peak ( for 2 ) on a HS with EHU. I’m not sure your going to find many CL’s at near to half that the way cost are going YT. Of course if there is only one of you, it’s only £15.90.

I would say yes YT. They are usually smaller, older type Sites. Pitches possibly less uniform, not laid out in straight lines. Different clientele as well, more self sufficient, you get more older outfits on there possibly. Users tend to have been going for quite a while, they have a much loved following. We much prefer these Sites, they are a lot quieter, loads of wildlife around. There are a couple of Club Sites that actually have facilities, but still retain this much different “feel”. Lower Wensleydale, near Leyburn, and the heathland pitches at Exeter Racecourse, which are quite separate from the pitches around the small old facility block. Might be others, but we haven’t used all Club Sites.

Might be because they are cheaper, different, possibly?

It might be of course because they want to avoid them, some I am sure wouldn’t be interested. You do see the odd review where it’s only become apparent to the user on arrival, not everyone researches their choices wisely😬

I think YT is comparing Club Sites with a loo block, to Club Sites without Steve, not with CLs. In which case, he’s not far out with his double the price comparison. 🤔

Marazion was our favourite Club Site WTG. Very happy memories of dozens of stays on that Site down the years. Perfect location for us. Godrevy is ok, totally different though. And much more expensive. Not interested in Carnon Downs, not a good location as far as we are concerned, and not our kind of Site.

He will have to tell us, but his reply was in response to browser saying they wanted a club site not a CL.

Our favourites are St Agnes and Plymouth Sound both are also popular for seasonal pitch users. We can get to these sites easily from where we live. Wish we were near to Altnahara, that would be on our return list too. smile

Firstly thanks to Nellie for his comprehensive list, most useful. We quite like non facility sites and have used a selection of those listed. This year we stayed at Cadeside which is a nice little site and walking distance of Wellington (Somerset) Last year we stayed at Northbrook Farm in Worthing although if the plans go through I think they are intending to do the same as Steamer Quay, hardstanding electric serviced pitches and open all year. They will lose some of the site to housing but whether it goes ahead might depend on the Council changing their minds on allowing a larger storage facility?

I am pleased to here that Club sites are  gradually being modernised.

I remember sites without power, flush toilets, somewhere to wash and shower, or wash and dry clothes, and without abundant hot water for dish washing 50 years ago. I abandoned them quickly as standards elsewhere improved.

No independent or commercial site owner would dream of offering  a campsite like that.

I am also interested as to why the OP would use a Club site with no facilites but would discount a CL. Typically Club sites are of a generic nature whilst CLs are unique. Just interested what he feels he needs that a CL could not provide in abundance.

And what happens in mainland Europe would certainly not be a problem for the OP who is asking about club sites 😂😂😂.

The only CL we have used was all hard standing. However, many are all grass and where there is a mixture getting a HS is not always guaranteed, if reviews are anything to go by. If we booked one well in advance, as is our normal policy, I would want a guaranteed HS. The OP might think similarly.

That is where we are different, we would only book a maximum of  a week head. As we are retired we don't feel the need to plan ahead. Even our recent trip to Austraila was only booked a couple of momths before.

Well there you go Burt, you've answered your own question, we are all different.

Also I'm not sure what booking a week ahead or planning ahead has to do with wanting a CL with a hardstanding a Steve posts? are you saying that you won't get a CL without a HS unless you book far in advance?
