Best wishes Robsail.
Good to know you have some lovely neighbours and friends. We have a few neighbours who live on their own but we made sure none of them would be on their own over Christmas.

Just caught up with the Christmas news, really sorry to read that covid has interrupted some of the festivities, speedy recovery to all.
R&R hope your Meg is now on the mend.
We spent a lovely day in MK with the family, our little Grand-daughter is now a little pocket rocket and she certainly liked her presents especially the ones that made a noise! 🤣 I rather enjoyed not having to do any of the cooking. 😉
Yesterday got our for a couple of walks as the weather was sunny. Today had a walk into town needed a few bits and to get one of the Christmas photographs printed to frame. Got home before the rain started.
Millie lovely photo of "Spiderman " did he sleep in it too, or was he eventually persuaded to take it off? 🤔 🤣

Been in Scotland since 1966 and OH born here, always a steak pie with puff pastry for New Years day meal, generally bought from a good butcher.
R&R hope the dog makes a full recovery.
Heavy snow here today, should get washed away overnight with the rain that's coming our way. Hope so OH has to go into town to collect his new Specs.
Lovely meal Christmas day at my sisters, we don't have any left overs to eat up

Oh, Brue That's cruel !!
I had to look up " Black Bun " and it seems to be delightful and delicious not to mention ram-jammed full of CALORIES ! I'm expected at Surgery on the 9th of Jan for a right royal rollicking from Senior Diabetes Nursing Sister and you tell us about Black Bun.
Sniffle sniffle sob sob sob

Geez C, you may excel at the whole teacher thing but your dad jokes are dire😂

It has an anti scoffing ingredient, black pepper so you might not be too keen.
We had developed cabin fever so went down to West Bay yesterday, a few families around , lots of dogs and queues for take away coffees at the few places open. All the boats in due to the bad weather.

Helen Sounds like to had a great Christmas day and your little grand-daughter sounds delightful. Gt. Grandson was eventually persuaded to take the mask off (he was a danger as he couldn't see where he was going ) but went home in the rest of the Spiderman outfit. I haven't heard whether our grand-daughter managed to persuade him to take it off for bed .
So sorry to hear that illness has struck so many of you. I do hope you all feel better soon. This gastric flu has hit quite a few people locally plus a few with covid. I think it is going to be a difficult winter. R&R how is Meg?
We had another good day on Boxing Day we all went over to our son's and after Boxing Day curry we all played the Boxing Day tradition in our family of the Table Game. Too complicated to explain on here but it is very competitive!
Yesterday I was back on duty at the Cathedral where it was very busy as was town. I was surprised that so many people were out shopping in the current economic circumstances but pleased for the retailers.
Lovely photos Brue. It is too wet here for us to venture forth today so it is indoor jobs.

It's very stormy here Millie and we've just had a power cut, about 500 homes off, now back on but I wouldn't be surprised if we had more wobbles, our overhead cables have to negotiate some exposed spots and large trees and our water levels are rising too.
We are quiet till next week when we hope to see our son and family on a late holiday, they have all been ill too!
Do hope anyone struck by illness is recovering

Robsail. We've just received the handbook today and a lot of catch up post including one from British Gas inviting us to book our first boiler service...as we've just had one done by them and it was the third I can see things are out of sync a bit. Hope your appointments turn up soon.

Lovely and sunny here today about 16C had coffee outside just great to sit with the sun on our faces, washing done and dried.
Yesterday we went up to our friends place about 35 minutes from here to check all ok and OH had keys to their vehicle to check all running ok and it was, very dull and foggy when we went and then the sun came out to late for our picnic lunch but nice trip back after some local shopping in Cajarc then back via small back roads few folk out on bikes and some walking with dogs and enjoying a brighter afternoon.
Not had any post from UK this week but not much to come now thankfully.
The local rivers Lot and Cele were running well and 1 weir which has been repaired earlier in the year now working well, but a local stream still not in full flow and more rain needed for local lavoir and sompe's to fill up more as still a lot lower than usual.
Planning where to sit outside next year if we have the same heat as this year so next to OH's shed there is a covered area where trailers go so they will move next year and will sort that area out suitable for sitting out it does have 3 large Forsythia bushes in front of it so that will be some shade and will put some shading up as well and will get the bigger summer table plus chairs there as the big table does not sit well with chairs in our small wooden gazebo.

I am not sure that you are still allowed to call it "black bun" anymore due to the snp/green alliance outlawing freedom of speech and the fact that the reference to colour of the bun will be offensive to the tree huggers!

Two miserable days on the trot, so only managed shortish walks with Flyte, although I did get out by myself in the late afternoons for a couple of miles without getting wet. Shopping for food took priority this morning, and although the Tesco car park was quite full the shop itself wasn't, and neither was Aldi, across the road. The forecast for tomorrow looks better so hopefully we will get out for a decent walk along at least some of the Curber Edge.

Ah, so we have been "moving in the wrong circles" ! Pity, as we both enjoy a good steak pie. The roast beef will keep for another day.
Yesterday was a lazy day, just catching up on a few things at home, and preparing for today. Today we had a new boiler installed at the Guide Hall, so I was down there just after 8 and not home till after 4pm.
Managed to change out 3 rusty radiators while the system was drained down, but had problems fitting the new TRVs as the old ones had weird fittings. 3 new TRvs fitted out of a total of 6, which will have to do meantime.
Still have the TRVs on the 8 large radiators in the 2 big halls to do, but each system will have to be drained down to do that. A job for a Sunday in a few weeks time, when it is not so cold. And when we have ordered supplies of system protector.
No plans for the rest of the year, other than working out how to cut the counter tops we need for the upstairs bathroom, 3 pieces in total. Once I get then cut, it will be over to OH to treat them with the Danish Oil before installation.

Robsail, Got my January Club Mag today plus a couple of clothing catalogues and thought thats not bad really.
Then mobile burped and, Lo and Behold, the surgery had dropped a note advising those in need to get prescriptions in and certified before close of play on 29th !!
Best wishes to all, especially any not feeling too chirpy, Borrow somebodies dog & take it for three long walks a day until you have recovered !!
P.S. / Edit
Sorry Fluffy One but I am a Hard line Creweite and if it's Black ( including Brue's Pepper ! ) I'll still call it thus!!
Wakened I might have been But " Woke" I certainly ain't !!

Just an update on Meg for all of you who were kind enough to ask after her. We picked her up from the Emergency Vets at 6pm on Boxing Day and brought her home. She was very dopey as was to be expected after all the drugs they'd put into her and looking at bit sorry for herself with two shaved legs and part of her neck shaved where, presumably the cannula and injection sites had been.
We had decided on a diet of a little steamed fish rather than her usual kibble - small and often as advised by the Vet. Trouble was, she went for more than 36 hours without apparently drinking anything and I was getting concerned that she may become dehydrated again. Rang our own Vet yesterday morning and they gave me this tip that I certainly hadn't heard of before. Grab a handful of flesh / fur between her shoulder blades and pull gently upwards and then let go - if it goes back immediately, she's OK - if it doesn't and takes a few moments to return, she's dehydrated. She was OK - but I was still worried even thought the nurse said she was probably getting enough liquid from the fish as opposed to none from her usual kibble.
A friend suggested using a syringe to get water into her mouth which I did and it worked - but because, by now, she was returning to her usual diet of dried food - all of a sudden, she went to her bowl and drank half a bowl-full in one go. Instant relief all round - so the nurse had been right and I, as usual, had been panicking unnecessarily!
I'm sure it's easier bringing up kids - at least they can tell you what's wrong

Good result, R&R 👍

So pleased to hear that your dog is better R&R. We hope all the poorly people and animals are fighting fit soon.
We have booked our first flight in 4 years to visit our family in Macau and Hong Kong now restrictions have been removed, although the more I read about the Covid numbers I’m thinking, bad move perhaps?! After 3 years of us being careful with busy places and Covid I expect we will get it there!!!🤦🏻♀️. We aren’t going until February so hopefully it will have passed through a bit.

Intrigued by your avatar heddlo. Doesn't look like any part of East Yorkshire that I know

So pleased Meg is on the mend R&R, it’s heartrending when they are so ill, but cannot tell you why. We have been there with the dehydration as well. That tip the vat gave you works for humans as well, just gently pinch skin on back of hand…. If it goes back you are fine, if it doesn’t, get drinking👍 Dried food does need them to drink a lot. We had to give up on dried food for our Lab, he was putting too much weight on. He has wet food only now, (which we were very wary of, having only fed dried to all our previous dogs), but he’s fine on it. Lost a lot of weight as well, even though he has trouble walking far. He’s 13 later in January. Neither the vets nor us thought we would get him past 10, so he’s doing really well.
Syringes are wonderful bits of equipment, in various sizes. We have super large, last used on our horse🤣 Smaller for dogs, even smaller for shoving Calpol into a very reluctant elderly human…..😬

I can see Whitby Heddlo, probably because I keep clearing my browser. Nice photo!
Glad to hear Meg has recovered R&R...I hope you have too?!
Thanks for reminding me about some nice places in France RedKite, I spent a happy hour following on from Cajarc and meandering up various rivers and cave sites.
