R&R and TW - sorry to hear you're not feeling well, rotten luck just before Christmas, but with a bit of luck and 3 days to go, hope you'll feel at least a bit better on the big day.

We went out to collect our pre-ordered Christmas Food from Morrisons in Newquay this afternoon, plus the last minute stuff, fruit, vegetables and salads. Surprised how easy it was to get round and with all the check outs open we got through very easily. My wallet feels considerably lighter now! Think we might just survive till New Year now! laughing

We're not having turkey & all the trimmings on Christmas Day, far too complicated to cook with our small oven, so tonight we're going out to one of our favourite local pubs, the Plume of Feathers at Mitchell for our official Christmas Dinner.

Tomorrow we're heading down to Perranzabuloe Church to have a look at the annual festival of Christmas Trees, having been reminded of it on local news this morning. Usually a spectacular sight. Will try to post some pictures.

Take care folks.

We cook our Christmas dinner in the van. The main course changes each year, pheasant, salmon, or this year steak, with roast vegetables and roast potatoes. Use the microwave for our Xmas pudding. If the weather is fine we will pack a picnic lunch, Smoked Salmon buns followed by mince pies with mulled wine to drink, and head out for a good walk. We usually have our main meal in the early evening when we get back from our walk.

R&R and TW so sorry to hear that you are not well and hope you feel better soon. Sorry that you have had to cancel your trip to Sandringham R&R but you can always go another time when you feel better. Better to be safe than sorry. WN I hope to haven't had more episodes of things that go bump in the night. How nice that you had such a lovely welcome from the library staff.

Today would have been the 60th Wedding Anniversary of my friend and her husband who died recently. She and her daughters decided to mark the occasion by having a gathering of family and close friends this afternoon to celebrate his life. It was a bittersweet occasion.

I am now going to watch Sewing Bee on TV.  My Mum was a seamstress so it brings back lots of memories and I love Esme Young. I read her autobiography recently. She is a very clever lady who has had an amazing and very interesting life.

TW and R&R sorry to hear that you are suffering at the moment and hope that you are soon fully recovered, and can enjoy a pleasant Christmas.

Millie, guess you had mixed feelings at this afternoon's gathering, sorry at the loss of your friend's husband but also being able to share fond memories of your times together.

Moulesy, hope you had a thoroughly enjoyable meal tonight, and have a pleasant stay down in Cornwall.

We have had a rather damp day today, so just a walk around part of the airfield before lunch, and then a second one at Bishop's Wood.

All the very best to CT members for Christmas and the New Year.🎅🍸🍸🍸

Had my last radiotherapy session this afternoon, had a delay of an hour  though as they had a fault with one of the machines. Had my end of treatment review first instead of afterwards 🤣  It felt a bit emotional after 3 weeks, also saying goodbye to the other patients I've met together with the lovely radiographers who really looked after me.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling too good R&R hope it passes and you feel better soon.

Enjoy your meal, out Moulesy and Christmas in Cornwall.

Millie lovely idea to celebrate your friends life, and share memories but you must have had very mixed emotions.

Helen, good to hear that you have finished your treatment, and fingers crossed that all is well from now on. It will be a relief to you both that it is completed, and you can celebrate Xmas without the thought of having to go back for further sessions.

Thank you all for your kind wishes - feeling a bit better today - had a decent night's sleep for a change!  Turns out it is fortuitous we didn't go away -  found out this morning that the microswitch in the van's kitchen tap has failed and I know before I start, it's not going to be an easy job to repair it having had the identical problem with the bathroom tap earlier in the year. Still - it can wait until after Christmas now.

Pleased to hear you've reached that milestone Helen but don't try to do too much.  Ros was very tired for quite a while after she'd finished her radiotherapy but you must be feeling so much better that you've got that behind you.

Hope you're soon feeling better TW - did do a test and it was negative - but I sometimes wonder how accurate they are????

Best wishes and speedy recovery to all those feeling poorly. There are some nasty bugs about and our immune systems are somewhat depleted after the last few years.

Helen great news that you've had your last radiotherapy. Take it easy and be kind to yourself, enjoy family time and pampering over Christmas and into the new year.

Last fresh bits shopped this morning, took one look at the traffic reports locally and decided on the Co-op in son's village as I had bits to collect from their house.

A1 looked busy and fast as Dora and I walked on a disused road that leads toward's it first thing this morning in the pouring rain which followed the fog. Intensity of rain varies by the minute. Chose not to use A1 to son's but the spray looked awful and traffic much as it was earlier. Safe travels to all those on the move.

Just in case time gets tight, it seems too! Wishing everyone a very peaceful Christmas, however you're celebrating or marking the occasion. May the new year bring heath, happy and enough prosperity to enjoy the first 2. 🌲🎅

Chucked it down all day. Some local roads flooded for a short while.

Had to accompany OH to Screw Fix for a new shower unit for MiLs shower room. Called into Tesco for 6 items that they either didn't have 2 days ago or veg that wasn't fresh then. Looked like a long hard day for the staff. A few very impatient angry people, as usual at this time of year, otherwise everyone behaving themselves.

That's it now, barring unforeseen emergency, until at least Tuesday next week.

Lovely Christmas present, of a sort, Helen. Take it easy for a while eh?

Hope those under the weather fare better in coming days.

Spent a few hours at work this morning, just to finish a few outstanding jobs,  I'm taking the few days between Christmas and New Year as holiday this year, decided I need a rest!  I only had a couple of weeks off after my operation, otherwise I've worked almost everyday throughout my treatment. Just hoping it was appreciated.🤔🤔

Our neighbours got married this morning,  no fuss just 2 friends as witnesses.🥂🎉  it was a shame it was very wet this morning.

Lovely photos Moulsey, we visited a local tree festival earlier in December. 🎄 always lovely to see.

Weather brighter this afternoon, so had a short walk round the estate with the dog.

Helen So pleased to hear that you have finished your course of radiotherapy although I do understand why you felt a bit emotional saying goodbye to the other patients and the radiotherapy staff. Have a nice rest now and I hope you have lovely time with your family, especially your little grand-daughter.

I loved your photos of the Christmas trees moulesy. The village where our daughter used to live had a Christmas tree festival each year and we also took 2 of our grandchildren to one at the church where where we were married (a long time ago). I think they are a lovely idea.

OH had an appointment at the hospital today and I found that there is a lovely fresh fruit and veg stall at the entrance so that killed 2 birds with one stone!

Wishing all of you a very Happy Christmas whatever you are doing and I hope all those who a poorly feel better soon.

Lovely photos, Moulesy, I particularly like the one in the shape of a galleon under sail.

Good to read that both you, R&R, and TW are feeling better and hope that your OH recovers soon, TW.

Dry, grey start to the day and we got packed up and away in the dry. Ran into showers en route and had to set up in the rain. It has been a while since that has happened, so I suppose I have been fortunate considering the number of times I have pitch the caravan this year.

Now on site until into the new year, which means that we will have been away in the caravan for 253 nights this year at an average cost of £16:06p. It will no doubt be much more expensive in the future.

Fantastic nellie - we 'only' manage about 90 days per year and the last time I saw that sort of average cost, was 2015!! This year it worked out at £22.15 and would have been even higher if we had gone to Sandringham.

Not so many nights this year(55) due to sneaking off on a cruise. Beaten Nellie's figure though at £12.29, a drop of almost £1 from last year. Last time it was below this was 2014 when it was 50p less. If I'd stayed exclusively on CAMC sites, it would have been around £1200 more over the year. It would have cost Nellie an additional £5K. surprised

Our average site fees over the year have been £29.47 per night so £1856.82 for the year over 63 nights. We would have done another 10 nights had we not got COVID mid stay and also had to cancel our last site due to bad weather. I reckon that's pretty reasonable for 63 nights away as we deliberately chose sites which were  convenient to where we wanted to be.

We have managed 55 nights away this year which is a bit below our normal as we normally average around 65 but we had relatives over from Canada which basically ruled out the whole of August. We have used mostly club sites this year averaging around £30 per night. Hope to get away a bit more next year.

Hope all on here have a great Christmas

We managed 108, mostly in two tours with a few other days scattered through the year. It’s the first time I’ve ever bothered to calculate it but it worked out at £22.75 a night, a mixture of UK and France. About half of the sites were CAMC.

I don’t tot things up, only for individual tours. But our two long tours this year were around the £12.50- £13.50 mark. We have had a frugal year in terms of days away, mainly because OH had a major op, and now caring for Mum. Probably still around the 60-70 night mark though, mainly short midweek breaks.
