Hi

I have 2 6kg propane in my gas cupboard one is connected to the wall mounted requlator so when I recently had to change bottles in the dark and heavy rain it became a major issue. Surely there must be a simple way to fit T peice and additional pigtail so that both bottle will be connected then I can just shut the empty bottle off and open the full one?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Get yourself a refillable gas cylinder. The gas is miles cheaper and you can top up when you see the cylinder getting low so you need never run out.

    >Gaslow< do manual and automatic change over kits. I found one of the advantages of the manual kit, apart from ease of change over, is the indicator guage that comes with it which shows how much gas you have in a bottle is pretty accurate.  I know nothing about the auto change over ones, never had one.

Ours is an auto version, each bottle has a small indicator gauge that is not very accurate and occasionally sticks. However, as it changes over automatically and this is shown on an indicator inside we have not found that an issue.

I always want to know when a bottle has run out and have thought this might be missed with and auto change over.

A couple of pics, the first is of my first motorhome with a refillable bottle and a calor bottle. The second is of my current set up with two refillable bottles.

Depends what system you have already.Truma supply a duo control system. I have one on my eight year of motorhome from new but I've never fixed it to the second cylinder. It came as part of the crash sensor which Truma provide.

If you have a Truma crash sensor system you might already have a duo control system and you just need to fix a second pigtail.

I have a T piece which is attached to my bulkhead regulator. This has non return valves in the two branches that are fed from hoses from my two bottles. These two bottles are permanently attached, but only one is turned on. I thought this was a common set-up.

We have one like this externally on a wall at home with two x 19kg propane cylinders feeding the kitchen cooker. (No mains gas out here)  It’s automatic switching when one cylinder is empty but a manual switch over model is simpler and cheaper. . Phone your local gas fitter to supply and fit unless you are competent.

    Thanks All ,

Don't want to go the gasflow route initial outlay too much at moment. Simple T Piece and an extra pigtail should do it.

Both cylinders are same and I'll only have one open at a time.

    Cheers
