It really is the responsibility of the person visiting such locations to work out how they dispose of waste responsibly. The Club do offer the service at the rate of one nights stay on site. The Club are clearly unwilling, from what they have said officially, to provide a visiting service so it ain't going to happen anytime soon.

Ah yes the site is special, a treat. To me personally it looks from the photos like a small club site but with even higher prices, and I'm not sure what smaller number of pitches have to do with higher prices?
Of course you saying the club's middle of the road sites with high prices doesn't make it true, it's not a fact, or you are saying and judging these things for us?
Time will indeed tell. I think like most regular club sites users it's welcome addition.

How much waste will some one stopping at a carpark or pub for one night ? Motor caravaners who are not willing to pay to stay on official sites, then they should carry a receptical to be able to use what facilities are available to dispose of their own waste

Looking good! A possible site for us to visit.
Loved reading the reviews when it was an affiliated site, majority very positive. Enjoyed reading the sites responses to those few poor ones. Good to hear both sides of the ‘stories’ being told!

Why should pubs offer anything at all to MH-ers? Many either don't charge or just ask for a minimal sum. Enforce rules about facilities and they'll likely stop overnight parking on their land.
Pub owners are only interested in takings behind the bar which MH-ers hopefully contribute towards, so the present system benefits both landlords and campers. As soon as the pubs are expected to dig deep to provide facilities, their gain goes out of the window and with it goes the benefit to MH-ers.
Don't forget you can usually use pub facilities during opening hours.

Ah, Dornafield, the subject of the thread👍. CAMC must be overwhelmed by the joyous response to its acquisition 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not at all David, that is not my perception at all. I'll be interested to see where I've written that?
What I have often said is that judging by their popularity they must be offering something that people want, (maybe VFM, maybe excellent standards...) nothing to do with just value for money and totally different ..
I have also often stated that value for money is a personal issue.

I think you have summed it up well. The reviews of the site itself have always been excellent, but the bus service for those who need it is just once an hour to Newton Abbot or Totnes.
If location is more important than a pretty, well landscaped campsite then you can stay at Totnes without waiting for a bus to get there.

lost me there David, you posted:
"Miďdle of the road and high prices " is not a fact of course it's a perception and that what we all exercise when judging if an item or service is value for money.. Your perception is that CAMC sites offer good value for money based on the numbers taking them
Yes you did talk about perception, buy my perception (I've put in bold for you) and I corrected you on, that as being untrue, and it wasn't me who first posted about the middle of the road prices.
I'm not sure where you're going with this so I'll leave it there but you carry on?

What do you refer to as an official site? Wild camping is one thing, but stopping in a pub car park, which is authorised, or in an aire, equally authorised is another. It is not about willingness to pay, it is about convenience and location. If we stay overnight in a pub car park and have a meal in the pub, that is likely to cost us more than stopping at a CL and cooking for ourselves. It’s about choice.

But Daviid we are talking about the perception that some have with respect of todays and more in the future, prices of large organisations and the costs involved that family run do.not possibly need
My pension is also like yours ,but we are very lucky to have worked for government backed organisations

Ooh! I thought you disliked sarcasm, David!
Did I say we had never made a mistake? That might be your perception () of my post but I think I said there had been places we " wouldn't return to".
The fact is that we've always planned our holidays around walking, climbing and, in my younger days, running. So we've never stayed in a location we hated (obviously should have made that clearer) though some of the sites and, very occasionally, cottages we've used have been not to our liking.
(As an aside, Dornafield would probably have been one of them - we went to look when we were staying at the excellent Ross Park a few years back and decided it wasn't for us. )

Perhaps they should start charging a reasonable sum (£10) and provide basic facilities. We would then be interested in using them and also buying our dinner in the pub. I am sure we are not alone. The charged for Aires with dump facilities, we use in France, are well used by many nationalities including the British, although there will almost always be a free non facility one nearby.

I can only repeat what I said before, Steve. In my view, the enforced provision of facilities will probably result in cessation of the scheme.
Comparing French aires with UK pubs is surely off the wall?
Anyway, that’s not going to affect anything at Dornafield where you will have all the facilities you want and can eat at any nearby pub of your choice. The Three Mile Oak is very good👍🏻

Not really, we stopped in a vineyard car park (with facilities) that was free. We of course covered the cost by buying a few bottles of wine.
As to walking to that pub from Dornafield. No thanks, not along that entrance road, particularly in the dusk or dark.

Do you really think foreign visitors and Brits will flock to use pub car parks that charge for a patch of tarmac and expect visitors to pay for basic facilities and eat in the pub?😄
I think Dornafield is not for you, Steve, so may I recommend Stover site? Non-facility but on a wide major road with a bus stop outside. No nearby pub but several cafes in Trago which you can either walk to or use their extensive car parks. You can also enter the country park almost directly from the site.

Hence my mention of the Trago car parks👍🏻
