Wheel size won't be a specific problem for towing, you just might get a slightly firmer ride in general than a car with smaller wheels. I personally wouldn't want to tow with a DSG auto (they're an automated manual) but plenty do so, but none of my cars have 3 pedals though. 😉

well the plot thickens, had a phone call from skoda telling me if i have a tow bar fitted by anyone else the warranty is invalid. They will fit a tow bar for £1900 and I would now also need a fan upgrade at £600.

Needles to say I have cancelled the purchase

I can't see how they could enforce that. If the car had a fault that was a direct result of the fitting of the towbar I could concede that VW would not cover it. If however the fault was totally unrelated to the towbar then I think they'd be on a sticky wicket.

Probably in UKs 'normal' climate there is no needed for additional cooling when towing, but into Europe and steep climbs on hot days they could be right in covering themselves.

Most cars have a good margin built in for cooling, perhaps Skoda does not.

I wonder how many people are not aware of that and have already had a towbar fitted, but not by Skoda!  I bought a 2 year old Skoda Octavia Estate last year from Arnold Clark (not impressed with Arnold Clark's customer service at all and certainly would not recommend them) and whilst I like the car in many ways, I was very annoyed to find that  when it rains heavily, the passenger door accumulates large amounts of water, which is apparently a design fault. You can drain the water by leaving the passenger door open for a few minutes for it to drain away, but surely Arnold Clark must be aware of the problem so should have it repaired before then sell on those cars which it affects.

Arnold Clark has a very very poor reputation on line ..... there are many tales of woe on the Interweb.

I have a Skoda Kodiaq. Tow bar fitted by an independent specialist 2 days after car was new. No problems with warranty work and no extra fan. Super tow car as I imagine the Superb will be.
